Re: Ebay Bargains thread

F Skate for $195, hard to tell if its compressions in the deck or just the wax but a good price if in ok condition http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mona-vale/surfing/miller-surfboard/1100708189 What about the ads wording: "perfect for waves up to 4' (a touch overhead)". WTF? The guy must be a midget.

Many of those posts have been grabbed by others and used for quotes so his censorship attempts have failed. :-D-:

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Looking forward to seeing your surf photos Offy. :) I'm surprised that Puerto Rico is crowded. So the intelligent consensus is that wave height is measured against the wave face (after all this is where you have to take the drop) relative to erect body height ie. waist high, shoulder high, head high...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Local has cleaned up but still only 3 out in head high stuff suited only to the highly skilled. Travelled south again to the rideable protected spot and shared the chest high (at best) waves with 50 other new best friends. I hate to think what the weekend crowds will be like there.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Few northern beaches had rideable waves with my local closed and empty. Some bodyboarders were taking advantage of a nearby 2-3 times a year wave that barrelled into 6 inches of sand - a smaller version of the Waimea shore break. I headed further south to a protected spot but had to share with many ...

I'll find out for you after the Council amalgamations when I get my first Greater Manly Council parking sticker. Get ready for an invasion of like-minded blockers.

How to repair a Phil Avalon Bullet surf ski?

I was recently given a damaged Phil Avalon Bullet surf ski. Not my choice of surf equipment and I will just use it to paddle around on the flat days for exercise provided that I can repair it. The outer plastic shell at the rear has peeled away from the core leaving a 2cm gap. It is still theoretica...

Re: Kneeling (up or down?)

Do you mean when paddling back out. Yes, with a paddle that is only long enough to paddle kneeling down. Why would I worry about looking dumb? This site has the reasons why it is preferable to standing: http://kneelupps.blogspot.com.au/ The site doesn't actually explain why it is beneficial to knee...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Had his own surfshop and board label. Was active in the local chamber of commerce at the time - friend of my Dads introduced us, seemed a good guy with heaps of energy Westerly Windina (get it, ha ha!) these days........hmmm I wonder if that's Offshore's alter ego? Giving him/herself a name like th...

Re: Giving some old boards to charity?

That's surfboards covered.

If you have any bicycles that you no longer want try these guys. The old bikes will be shipped to 3rd world countries. The Sydney collection point is at Brookvale near Warringah Mall. There is a Melbourne-based group also.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Just got a call from a mate who surfed Kirra. Bagged some decent waves, but there's a horrendous sweep going down apparently. Today was the best day of the year at my local. Well it's gotta be considering it's only the first day of the year. ;) Duh! That was the point...................... :-)( In ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I think DY will be crowded all day (I went elsewhere today). Yesterday the DY carpark was full by 9.30am when I was leaving and today will be worse. You're right about the crowds Davros. I remember about 10 years ago on a mid-winter Sunday at The Poles, perfect small peelers and only about 6 out. Se...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

DY. Beachy closing out. Point was crowded as with the clubbies joining the mayhem but the waves were OK if you were very lucky enough to catch the right one and by yourself.

In Drummoyne and with twenty boards at $20 apiece he would be able to keep the landlord at bay for about 4 days. In fact as that ad is over a week old he has probably been evicted by now.
