birch is one of the best surfers i've seen in the flesh. if i had to describe his surfing it'd be: stylish lunacy.


incidentally, the 5th track in the Panicked Mummies third album is also called Stylish Lunacy, featuring a Stephen Shearer ballad intro about rock fishing in chinese imported thongs.

Fcuken great day down here yesterday. Flat in the morning. Swell started edging a bit around 9.30am. Good surf vibe in the air with the cold wind and deep SW cloud switching off with sun. zipperless wetsuits are the greatest ever. no velcro bits to cling onto and deteriorate the wetsuit. no zips to get jammed... but the real revelation is wearing the things. those two big sewn on back/ shoulder panels are the greatest thing in wetsuit mobility and flexibility ever. the fact they lend...

still sore when it bends mate, like duck diving is still the worst. and surfing backhand is still nearly impossible, but the pain is becoming more manageable. i can do push ups on it which is a solid improvement. it still comes up sore and a little swollen if i'm on me feet all day or after a run. b...
