Re: winter

I took his name out knowing it'd be an easy find if someone wanted too. And then thought it didn't really matter. S'pose I should though

On the healthy bit, it is weird. It was an open and ongoing conversation - at least among mates

Re: winter

Myocardial infarction. Overweight. Always had the propensity to stack it on, but was a fit young bloke into surfing and skateboarding. Went quite sedentary a few years back - long commutes to work and long working hours. It wasn't as if he (and all who knew him) didn't know he was heading that way, ...

Re: winter

Segue Mate I met first year of undergrad in 1995 died on Friday. Just 40. Adored wife & toddler child now without him. Worked tirelessly and grossly underpaid in environmental advocacy since graduation. Some might be dismissive, but I loudly applaud him as the only one I know to have received a pers...

Re: Midlengths

On small fins. I have a JD 6'2" stepup. Went on a road trip to sth NSW last year and only wanted to take one board so that was it - just in case. Took some tiny fins for smaller days. PG3 in the rear, quad rears in front. Haven't changed them back. Not ideal for smaller days, but more than surfable...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

That's it. Didn't think it was going to be that big. Then a guy took off on a set wave and got barreled. Two guys were also surfing just to the south - dunno the name of it. Making crazy drops into lengthy stand up tubes and then getting obliterated. Serious charging

Surfed double over heads just up the road from you. Got a good flogging more than once. Bomb of the day landed on top of me

Wasn't for mine either. Clicked from wave 1. Tried it as a quad a couple of times, but it was perfect with 3

Weekend looking the goods on your side, Rustt. WSW direction again, but @ 5-6 m over the whole weekend, surely it will be hitting the coast? Big chance I'll be venturing over

Re: Modern Planing hulls

Had a Tomo V4. Admittedly, it was 5'9", but if you take the pointy nose into account it probably fits a 5'4" cut off. I don't consider myself an advanced surfer, but that board was perhaps the best shorty I've ever had. Paddled better than I expected too. If my shoulder wasn't so fcuked, I'd have st...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

It will be Bean from Balin, but I suspect that board may have been made while he was living in Qld. Sunny coast I think. He came back to the MP sometime around '82. That board is earlier Dunno where he is now. Had the shop next to Killers in Toot for a few years and then moved to the highway. Shop c...

Re: J-Bay Pro 2017

The 0.01 is derived from the 0.1 differential. 5 judges score. Highest and lowest discarded. Score is the mean of the 3 retained
Eg. 9.1 8.9 9.1 9.2 9.3
8.9 & 9.3 discarded
(9.1 + 9.1 + 9.2) / 3 = 9.13
You are welcome

G'day digger. I know I've mentioned it more than once, but seriously, have a delve into meditation. For me, it doesn't make the pain go away; quite the opposite. I focus right into it and the amazing thing is that you train the brain to increase its threshold for tolerance. I rarely take antiinflama...
