Re: Ask Carroll

my understanding of my learning this week was, speed psychosis is (mostly) bought on by sleep deprivation, hence it's a short term effect rather than a permanent effect like ice. where the psychosis from ice is caused from actual brain damage, hence its long term, irreversible effect. there's a che...

Re: Ask Carroll

Happy to be corrected but I thought the main cause of amphetamine psychosis was sleep deprivation? I tried meth a few times years ago and found it quite boring. Sleep deprivation is one of the causes of psychosis. If you do stop & start getting back into a proper sleep pattern, most side affects ar...

Re: Ask Carroll

the big difference from a medical standpoint re ice/ speed that i read this week was: ice has a higher instance of psychotic episodes and does irreparable and irreversible damage to the brain. [/url] True. Users of large amounts of amphetamines over a long period of time can develop an amphetamine ...

Re: Ask Carroll

Ice is just high quality speed. If anyone has taken a half of a gram of speed back in the day then you have had the ice equivalent. The difference is that it isn't cut with whatever so you take a lot less and get fcuked up. It isn't a highly addictive drug unless you have something to run away from...

Re: DY Point tonight

I couldnt paddle out in the dark, just couldnt overcome the fear aspect. Nothing like a near life experience to bring some excitement to your day (night?) Of course you do think about it, but you just have to park it. As long as there are plenty of waves coming through, then you aren't sitting arou...

Re: DY Point tonight

Looks like it cleaned up a little bit for the early this morning.

@ChrisB - If we went out, we probably would have frozen to death before we could have reported back - got down to 6 degrees @ Terry Hills!

Re: DY Point tonight

Absolutely :-D-: We need low-mid tide rising, or high tide dropping. SW winds. 3 metre average, with 5 metre peak south swell at 10 seconds. If the tides too high, then the waves just roll over the ledge without breaking properly or at all. If the tides too low, then you can't sit on the peak, or ha...

Re: DY Point tonight

Nice to meet you, shame the swell was on its last legs & the tide on the way out.

If there's nothing in the next 6 days, next full moon is the 30th August, will keep an eye out :-)

Re: Mick surfs memories of AI as Tassie diver killed

Wouldn't surviving an encounter with a GWS give you virtual immunity from another attack? I mean what the odds of being attacked twice in a lifetime? I dunno, Mick could end up being the Roy Sullivan of surfing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan Like the photo with the burned hat - obviousl...

Re: DY Point tonight

High tide is about 6PM & 1.65M so should definitely be working if the swell is still around at similar levels to now.
