Re: Single Fins
here is one I made earlier, enjoyed riding it for a few months from the start of the year, and still pull it out if there is any juice in the waves. I cant remember the full dims 6"6"x 201/2" x 21/2" issh. I scored a really nice Alkali fin for Xmas from my old chap as well, which probably helps. The...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I ordered a 3/2 steamer from Need wetsuits it arrived in two days I gave it a go this morning air temp was chilly (around 9 to 10degC), but water is still in the low 20's. a 3/2 sealed suit is overkill for SEqld so I was very warm. I dont wear a steamer too often and my last one was a 2mm oneil Psyc...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I had a crack at building one from scratch a few years back same kind of process, it wasnt a great outcome due to weight issues mainly, but that was expected. The link below is to the build thread, the tree to sea forum should provide enough info to get you going there are some absolute hacks out th...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
not sure about the reef a few mates checked it early and bailed on it, "looked like it was tripping over itself" was the call, we scored some pretty special beachies down the road a bit. It might have looked different as the tide and swell direction changed.

Re: Wooden Handboards
I find it OK to swim with the foam and glass handplane, it has a pretty deep concave so is not overly buoyant and the plan shape is pretty small compared to the others. The effort in shaping, glassing and strap mounts is a bit over the top and the wood option is much easier. I have also had a bit of...

Re: Wooden Handboards
none of these are wooden but are all pretty good to use, I have had a crak with all of them. The first one is a foam and glass one I made up from a broken board the other two are owned by a friend of mine. According to him the redwing is pretty old but really good in choppy conditions, the other one...

As someone who also works in the industry I can also confirm the desal plant is still operating in a reduced capacity and produces about 25 million litres per week. Have a look next time you fly in or out of cooly it is pretty hard to miss.
