If the chance arises, I'll demonstrate that I also suffer that very same fault.

Re: Skin Cancer
I'm pushing 50. Did the aussie sun kid thing. Outdoor tradie for 15 years with shirt off all summer. Surfing since 11 yo. Pretty sure I'll be having issues for all my remaining days, but can't convince many of the young blokes to do the slippery, sloppy, slappy thing.

Re: Skin Cancer
Good to know you're on top of it all. When you mentioned 'spots "iced" off', it made me recall an experience of my own. I had a clear small scabby type thing on my arm which would dry out and fall off, leaving a slightly raised light pink bit of skin. The process repeated for a few years. Didn't thi...

Re: Skin Cancer
Know a medical (cancer) researcher who is adamant that all skin cancers should be excised for pathology reasons. She says that freezing doesn't always get all the potentially nasty bits that may be malignant. Excision will be followed up if the pathology shows malignancy.

Re: buying a wetsuit for vicco
Strapper in Torquay have got wetties at 50% off atm. Got a 3/2 last Thursday for $150. Sale meant to have finished even before I got mine so might still be going if you're lucky. You must really feel the cold if you're in a 4/3 in qld.

Fair enough CF. Probably should have reserved such a comment to Shoartboarders forum. Just stating that it just doesn't do it for ME. I'm ok in that it does for others.

Re: Jumping from a quad to a thruster
Just snapped a quad and will be replacing it with a thruster. Quad: Bourton Silver Bullet 6'2 20'1/4" 27/16". Need: Pushing 50, shit shoulder so wanted extra volume and something that would surf seemingly without that extra volume. Yeah, I know bumfluff "jimmy1501 wrote: Or you could not be a kook a...

Poor, dear Rachel. She had no idea she was inviting a bunch of uncouth heathens into the niceties of Manly civilisation. Live and learn Rache, live and learn.

Re: Long boarders and short on the same break
49 yo. Not as fit as I once was although pretty good shape for age. Heaps of injuries catching up. Slight increase in volume of recent boards, but NEVER will I ride a log, goat boat, booger or SUP. May as well play golf. Then again, my shoulder's stuffed so maybe indoor carpet bowls. Drop in on the ...

Re: Samoa in july? waste of money or worth a stab?
Just got home from 2 weeks in Samoa. Trades haven't (hadn't) kicked in yet and got some pretty good waves. Week 1 Aganoa SE swell for most of week and not really doing it, but occasional inside peak throwing a barrel all the way through. Snapped board 1 on day 2. From what mates have previously said...

Re: Board washers
Not too many showers near me so generally not a washer. I am when there is and pretty much just do fin plugs and leggy swivels/straps. have always bought a new leggy for every new board. Nothing worse than when ya leggy breaks and you're swimming for your loved stick but it beats you to the rocks. d...

Re: J Bay Pro - No Dane
Out of a continuing curiosity, I just went to the JBay site to see what was going on. Small swell and event on hold. Then, looking at the results, it became apparent that 2 Sth Africans got into the 2nd round due to the no shows of Slater and Bobby Martinez. So where the FLICK is Martinez? The super...

Re: J Bay Pro - No Dane
Fair point, Hano, but I'm more impressed by the grommets at our locals than by the the likes of Parko and KS in crap surf. The pros really shine in solid, quality waves. I'm not interested in seeing them compete otherwise. The luck element is way too much a factor. As a club surfer (many many moons ...

Re: J Bay Pro - No Dane
Womby's got it right. KS is flaunting the rules - NOT breaking them. If they need/want him to market their BUSINESS, change the forking rules. Whatever happens, it's mostly detrimental to us anyway. Sure, advances might come a bit quicker, but give me slower advancement in a less crowded lineup any ...
