Surf report for a mate in Kuta
Just looking at Ulus, glass, head high, Racetrack is good but crowded. Two at Temples, perhaps a little big for it, and a bit shallow. Swell on the rise.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Friends in Kuta asked for a surf report. After a quick check here's what I sent:
Perfect conditions, 40 out, everyone sitting waiting for head high waves. Nearly double overhead set arrived, western break guys were caught about 30m inside, eastern guys about 60m

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Just starting to get back some form on my 7' and 7'6 after riding an 8'6 around Perth. A couple of waves every fortnight is a disaster skill wise.
I certainly wasn't trying to take one of the double overhead ones though. They did clear the water, there was only three of us out for a while.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Ulus is a bit of a mess. Head and a half size swell, 20 out at racetrack, only 1 or 2 chancing the other breaks. Only head high where I surfed but two 8 wave sets at near double that at about 9:30am cleared the water for a while. Water quality? Who knows, it always looks OK except when it rains heav...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Too variable as is wave height, kJ will be the same whether it's open ocean, or near shore when the wave starts to react to the changing depth.
A lot of the high energy waves go around the southern seas with a wave height of a couple of feet and a wave length of a around a hundred metres

Using linear measures to indicate the power of a wave is like using litres to measure the power of a motor vehicle.

That was a most excellent find MM.
By the by humans aren't prey for great whites, they are too boney (cause bad digestion ppoblems) and have stuff all fat compared to whales and seals.

When did they stop pumping? The shark management program (SMP) commenced in 1937 and there was a marked reduction in shark attacks soon after. Anyway, anyone who wants to know the SMP needs to read this despite its length and complexity: https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/p...
