Re: DY Point tonight

Awesome! Let's keep a watch on it then. I'm guessing that with more East in the swell (rather than straight South) it won't have to be hitting double overhead plus to start working. Perhaps if there's a lot of East in the swell, then it will start working at even a little overhead ? My dee why sessi...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

MM: I have a tassie trip coming up with Jetstar . I'm capping my board length at 6'0 max. Just to be sure. And will make damned sure that whatever cover I buy doesn't exceed 6'2.

Re: DY Point tonight

Full moon. Check. Clear skies. Check. Plenty of waves. Check. Swell size. Just not quite big enough :( Didnt think it would be either. If it's a south swell, then Dee Why needs quite a substantial (6-8ft +) size to make it happen, right ? And it's dropped off considerably by the looks. It's good to...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

I'd never own one as a step up or gun. Maybe for an "indo perfect" type wave it might be ok? But not for anything sizeable down this way. Too light and floaty and too stiff for hitting chop at speed. Are any of these composite sandwich manufacturers (other than surftech/Tuflite) using "closed cell" ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

they do flex, but it's very stiff and snappy. they don't absorb or soften "with the wave". They tend to feel as though they're "placed upon the wave", and not a "part of" the wave.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

those libtechs feel bullet proof Iggs. But I've got a funny feeling the flex plattern/rate of return will feel like a surftech. Yuck. Kinda yuck. I like the Tuflite feel in small to mid sized "very clean" conditions (little or no wind and smooth unlayered faces). Then (and only then) I find some re...

Advancement in construction technology

on topic of construction, starting to see plenty of snapped or creased futureflex boards showing up on gumtree.

Re: Just general surfing stuff

A 6'0 quad / thruster fin option would be a pretty ideal 'cover all bases' option for my tassie trip in October.

But at the moment I'm liking the look of this from psillakis . The eclipse . Fairly similar.
