Re: Running people over... what's the protocol?
one my biggest regrets in life - was down the coast, with the sunday afternoon long board brigade in 2ft of nothing. i waited ages for a wave, finally got one and then a 'local' trying to dominate the lineup, in act of utterly pointless defiance paddled for the shoulder, instead of the foam, so i to...

Indodreaming, hate to burst your Tom Curren bubble, i 'surfed' with him at racetracks one fine morning and regrettably, he wasnt exactly the worlds most congenial man...by comparison to some other pros there who were quite chill

But surely Nick (yes this is my serious voice) there is plenty of cash in the old surf cow yet. Sure internet has hit old fashioned retailing, but it also means bored pen pushers the world over are spending big chunks of their days, literally, web surfing...new frontiers are opening, new possibiliti...

speaking of claims, since pro-surfing is such a big influence on us impressionable wanna-be's, anyone noticed some 'claiming' going down at their local? I reckon at Manly on a sunny sunday afternoon it would rife. How about up the Goldie? anyone game to nominate their best/worst claim? another thoug...

Re: Could you swim 1km?
Nah Chris B, not talking about Brisbane Box whatever, nor about 'the Box' in WA...i am talking about Boxy. Its got a rockshelf on a headland at just the right angle creating refraction and crazy A-frames peaks on its day. Doesn't handle a lot of size, and it certainly doesn't handle a lot of crowd.

Re: Could you swim 1km?
an equally important survival technique would be treading water (keine scheiss). if its big, being able to keep your head above water (using eggbeater kick) is probably just as important, as would be rolling over occasoinally and using a bit of backstroke to see whats coming, while you try and swim ...

So Saltman, you're saying the current arrangement is based on a convenient agreement between mutual friends...meaning its susceptible to anyone with the motivation and a more influential mutual friend.

not just surfers, pretty much every professional sportsman who worth his salt. and yes that includes F1 drivers, golfers, and the wallabies. Anyone else aware that the worlds greatest footballer has been on HGH since he joined Barcelona as a wee tacker - they were concerned he was a midget and would...

let me know how you get along with your bodysurfing...it wont just be the Island gods who will feel disprespected if you paddle out at Ulus in your budgie smugglers and Churchills...

Re: Europe - Give us ya best
fave spot in europe is gardasee / lake of garda (north italy) gods own mtb trails, plus windsurfing, but more of a summer destination. Switzerland is a glorified cow paddock, whole joint stinks of cow shit, nice mtns for sure, but, as the germans would say schweine-teuer. pretty boring in Sept - sum...
