Re: my prediction for summer

OK I agree on that, but no one's put a size on the swell yet, just that there is a swell producing system on the cards, the first of the season.

When saying the models are divergent it usually applies to the atmospheric models, not wave models so I think you need to be a little clearer :)

Re: my prediction for summer

How can you say they're wildly divergent when each models is showing a south-west track of a tropical system to the Fiji region before stalling. Sure the intensity isn't being agreed upon but all the guidance suggests a tropical system stalling south to east of Fiji. Wildly divergent would apply if ...

Re: Spring

Best spring ever from Hunter down to about Eden I would imagine. :| :o Woah, steady on there Oldman, I have surfed nearly every day for the past few months, but to say best ever, wow spring must be pretty dire around here. I would of called it average with plenty of swell but dicey winds and no rea...

Re: Spring

Swell is kicking on the Goldy, buoy on the rise and some solid 4-5ft sets out the back of Burleigh and D-Bah it seems.

Re: Spring

Agree Don, looks like all the peak will definitely be overnight, which I absolutely hate!

And yeah Oldman, pretty sweet ay!

Personally I'd like to be the one on the wave though, not the guy on the inside, haha.

Re: Spring

Looks like peak is now early evening across North Coast with some solid 6-8ft surf on the cards.

Bit of a change from the last couple of months of weak windswells you've guys have seen up there.

Re: Spring

Sydney hasn't had it's usual 3 week long "less than 1 ft" spell Surely you can remember that 4 week flat speel from about mid August onwards, I surfed my single fin long board more than I ever remember. And I love NE windswells as well, they provide way more quality and options across the Northern ...

Re: MHL Buoys broken?

It's not totally unreasonable as the EAC is currently offshore from the coast and there's a strong gradient from 20deg inshore to 25deg offshore as shown in this diagram.. http://oceancurrent.imos.org.au/Brisbane/2012100610.gif But if the EAC started to encroach on the coast you'd expect a gradual i...

Re: Winter: La Nina refuses to leave the building.

So nowhere picked up a 3ft wave on the Northern NSW coast with this swell? It was always gonna be a smaller 2ft on the Sunny Coast. The swell arrived later Friday in Manly and pulsed to a solid 3ft on the sets, although very inconsistent. Seeing as the fetch was more favourably aligned for further n...

Yep that low over near the North Island will produce one of the better swells of the last few weeks. Keep Saturday morning free and go searching.

Re: Teahupoo 2012

Flores killed Parko in his heat, very disappointed!!

And I'm also disappointed with the size (Steve wins this one), although I would say it's a solid 6ft. Do these south swells loose a bit of size as they run down from the back of the reef more?

Re: Teahupoo 2012

Sorry Steve but I think it will be well over 6ft.

And I take their 15ft+ faces as a call of 8ft, 3x overhead. I think they use 5ft as head high.

I'm standing by my inconsistent 6-8ft with the odd bigger bomb.

In any case it's a big step up from what they've been surfing already.

Re: Teahupoo 2012

I think Ace's undercooking this last day swell.

I think it'll be easy 6-8ft with the odd bigger bomb at times.

Can't wait!

Swell for the last day is looking very nice now. Should be some solid sets, and winds look to co-operate as well! Hopefully it all comes together!

Re: Teahupoo 2012

Nothing of note except for some medium sized S/SW swell during the second half of the waiting period with a bigger S/SW swell possibly showing on the last day as the Long Wave Trough amplifies east of New Zealand.

Won't even bother watching the first half of the competition window.

Re: Fiji 2012

Nappy, I think you'll find there'll still be some solid 10ft to occasionally 12ft sets pushing through early tomorrow morning with plenty of 6-8ft days still available.

Crazy few hours of surfing and one of the biggest, longest most perfect waves I have ever seen!!
