Re: Midlengths

Well they must feel good because all the videos I've seen and the times up close, they look like dogs. The best surfing on them was by Cheyne, way back when. Apart from Cheyne some other surfers have used his designs at different times. Some of these include Shane Herring, Nat Young,Col Smith,Mark ...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

What is significant these last 10 days that the aerial observations have been in place,is the numbers being sighted....more than the tagged ones swimming past the receptors....(mind you a tagged one can be spotted by air too) TIP of the ICEBERG if ya ask me.....the aerial sees the ones that are visi...

Re: Midlengths

Have u owned one?...Have you ridden one? Go over to the Nugget Rider Facebook group that stretches around the world, the only disappointment is that he cant shape forever. The biggest disappointment is this retardation to longboards....Y go backwards?...the only waves they can ride well are knee to w...

Re: Midlengths

BONZERS? they sell more of them now than when they briefly made an appearance mid 70s.I saw Richo riding one at Pipe,i didn't see many others. Mind you, they came along when McCoy was a major brand and GM influenced many shapers. GM will die before his designs, and in the meantime he will collect the...

Re: Midlengths

A major surf brand offered to buy his brand about 15 odd years ago....the price was enough for him to retire then and there.

He told em to stick it.

Re: Midlengths

No, theres a "ghost" in Byron doing his boards...or theres the Cobra factory ones.

GMs trying to learn to reverse a 5th wheeler, as he does a lap!

I think the biggest problem with McCoy is Geoff McCoy
Yes and No....He is dogmatic and opinionated when it comes to design....I think its "yesterdays hero"syndrome. He did things his way,was it the right way?....in his mind Yes.

In the minds of(some) others,No.

Re: Midlengths

Geez I need to try one but the light weight construction versions seem to be at odds with the concept. XF epoxy models are ideal for weak waves, but as ive said, when theres grunt,i like some weight.Solid waves can often be less than perfect, with weight underneath you chop becomes less of a hindrance...

Re: Midlengths

I agree with that surfy. McCoys ride like no other board and it's a very addictive feeling The curves fit the wave! The mild convex rail to rail curve integrated with the nose to tail curve creates a"WOK"type of connection with a wave, consequently the "feel" is unique(once a waverider has tuned int...

Re: Midlengths

What do you like about McCoys? i love both fish and mccoys - there i've said it. I'll answer that one too. Firstly, in this disposable society GMs boards are built to last.A friend has a one board quiver(7/0 nugget)that he bought in 2000.He surfs plenty and the boards in 8/10 condition. Secondly,th...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Jesus, so now they are a protected species I wonder how long it will take to get back to that population? I don't think there will be any ocean water sports if that ever happens. [/quote The populations of any sea creatures are just guessing....HUMANS do a census, but I bet none of us are game enou...

Re: Midlengths

I took my 6'6 "fish" (quotes just for Davros) out this morning it was loose and fast with just the right amount of drive, and paddled in easily. Dims are 15.3" nose and tail, 21, 2.5. I have not been completely happy with it in the past, but using MR TX twins with a small/medium thruster fin in the...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I've got that Dorsal Site on Facebook. Shows tagged sharks around Oz as most people know. Forster Main Beach and the entrance to the Lakes there must be the sharkiest place on there. Buggered if I'm going out at Tuncurry Breakwater again. IF, theres just one tagged white@ main beach, its there EVERY...

A quote
"fish are what sharks eat" from a well known shaper to someone who rang him and asked him to make a fish design. :)

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I'm not sure when the "tagging" started but a biggish GW was hanging round Main Beach,Forster a couple of years ago...Tagging has happened on lots of juves, they will bite anything. But the disturbing thing is that they are guna BREED big time...bring a few Orcas to the NSW coast! Reported today of a ...
