Re: Spirit of Akasha - Tribute to 40 years of MOTE
Hi Steve, You are right I was being unpleasant, I apologise for that. I think that these days many of us are more cynical than we were in the 70's and it's hard for anyone to strike the right notes with this sort of movie, but it's still a creative effort and without creativity we'd all be stuffed,...

Re: Business idea
I spent 2 years (of my 10 years) in the navy doing border patrol (op relex). I can unequivocally confirm that sailors have mistreated asylum seekers. I did too. Nothing as bad as alleged in the burning hand saga but roughing them up, throwing them around and generally treating them like scum was com...

Re: 5 Most Consistant Waves in Australia
I don't know anything about Victorian waves, only spent a few weeks there in total. Winki, Torquay area and Phillip Is should probably go on there. Wilsons Prom as well. Though he did say shortboarder waves, and we all know Vicco doesn't barrel. Yeah true Of course. It's shit down here. :-o I took ...

Re: Bigger shortboard or smaller midlength for intermediate?
Just one more point on the Hypto:
The skinny(er) tail makes it difficult to pump out extra speed. Since I normally ride mine in small waves, it's a bit counter intuitive in that way.
Big fins help.

Re: Bigger shortboard or smaller midlength for intermediate?
Yeah I've had a Hypto for about 4 months now. Aaaannnnd the verdict is.... it's OK. I'm riding a 5'8 and it's probably the perfect size for me. Rides well in small stuff and paddles real easy. It's behaves a bit strange on take off though. All the foam seems to be in front of you so the nose angles ...

Re: Bigger shortboard or smaller midlength for intermediate?
This could become the Iggy scale of wave heights but I rate myself as intermediate: Comfortable in up to 6 foot surf (fitness depending) Able to read the surf and generally get to the best takeoff spots Able to link 3 - 4 turns together either forehand or backhand Can't do an air (intentionally), d...

Re: floatation aid
There are plenty of PFD's that would suit the intended purpose here, the issue is around manual vs auto inflation. What about a CO2 powered PFD wirelessly linked to the board? Won't trigger inflation unless the front foot part of the board has had no pressure for 5-10 secs? Paddling around, all good...

Re: floatation aid
No idea on the flotation device but a story about my cousin's kid. He was having a lot of seizures, pretty much every day I believe, & she got onto a chiropractor who was able to treat him & reduce the incidence of his seizures to zero. At least the last I heard he wasn't having any at all. PM me i...
