Mark, his funeral details: "Drysdale Funerals, in Nambour, on October 7 at 11am. The dress code will be colourful shirts." Details from Sunshine Coast Daily Great to hear you and Slowy's recollections. I thought you would have known him. He sounds sounds like a genuine character :D Ric, Do you think...

Check out the comments at the bottom of this Surfline page

It's hard to imagine another surf pioneer making the same impact as Peter Troy. That image that 2ndReef posted up is amazing... quite beautiful too.

Peter Troy passes away...

Peter Troy R.I.P. Matt Griggs authored a book called "Surfers" a few years ago. Out of all the biographies featured in that book (Slater, Rasta, Jon Frank, Rabbit, Layne etc.), Peter Troy's amazing story stood out the most. Definitely worth a read if you can get a hold of it. edit: Here's a great p...

Hmmm, you could right...

I do remember a convo I had with him about un-rated surf destinations and he put NZ as first on his list. He's had a few surf trips there in his younger days and has even considered moving over...

2ndReef, I think you're onto something

So stoked for Ace, great work!! So good to see someone else winning besides Slater! Also great to see Ace and Mick Campbell ripping on 6-Star boards shaped by Dylan Longbottom. http://www.zinksurf.com.au/surfboards/boards/sboard/dylan_image.jpg Can't help but wonder how longbum is going too

Surfing's Greatest Taboo..?

Inspired 2nd Reef's attempt to solve the "Where's Fongy?" mystery, I feel compelled to start a thread about "secret spots"   Do they still exist? How do you define a "secret spot"? Have wannasurf and google maps made them non-existent? Who can you trust with info about your se...

I surfed with Fongy on Sunday. It was blowing NE and basically dribble. The type of surf where you do more chit-chat than paddling. During that hour and a bit, I couldn't get it out of him. I tried all sorts of strategies (humouring him, then asking 'the' question etc.) but he's definitely keeping i...

He doesn't look fat when he's carving up heaving Sunset or pulling in to a massive Pipe pit!!

I gotta defend the big boys (being a part of the 90kg+ surfer club): 'Fat' boys need love too

Dane did surf better than Jordy in that heat but seriously, he was wayyyy overscored... 8's?? It's a Quikky bro deal for sure.

I could feel Jake stingin' to say something but realising he'd be talking against his stablemate and copping heat from his sponsor

C'mon RV, you didn't notice the 'blur' on several of LOM's shots?? He's not giving away any hints  :!:  Of course I did RB– :P even tried to track down the bloody cat, it’s killin’ me. My thinking is New Cal., but I have no idea. Haha, nice one. I should know you better :!:

Agree with Wanto about Bobby M. I love the 'lines' he draws but I'm not sure if the way his body moves can be classified as 'good style'. Besides the obvious names (Curren, Parko), I'm glad someone mentioned Luke Egan. Am I the only one who thinks he outsurfed Occy in that Brunswick section in the O...

Great pics LOM, glad to see you took the role seriously (extra marks for the batmask)!

So it looks like the bat went fine in head-high, reef barrels... did you use the 5th fin? What was the biggest surf you took it out in??

Felix, thanks for the awesome write-up on the Noosa of old. I've caught a few from just inside Boiling Pot all the way into Johnsons... I can't fathom going all the way to first point and onto a nicely lined-up main beach: that's a very long way! By the way, when was the earliest record of anyone su...

Sorry for the confusion Felix. That is also rightbrainpositive's real moniker. Would've loved to surf the Sunny coast breaks back in the day. Did you ever surf Carties before the walls were put up at the mouth? Saw some old pics from a plane and it showed a long bank going right into M'ba bay, look...

Moff's has an unusual allure Felix, as Trev will attest to. It's got a touch of the Sunsets about it. Very different to the points at Noosa. I reckon I like both equally as much on their good days. Yeah, the day I surfed Moffat's with Trev was a REALLY cold late arvo and I only had a long-arm sprin...
