Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, Have you got any training drills or training tips for racing mal training?. At the moment im getting in the water on the board twice a week, sometimes three. This is mixed with three gym sessions a week as well as surfing as much as possible. A typical paddle will be something like: jump in at...

Re: Maui Womens Pro

just tried to watch a replay of the final. Found myself utterly bored and turning it off within minutes. Its not the girls surfing. Its all the sitting around in the water and the utterly lame commentary. I find it rather painful. For some reason Martin Potter gives me the sh1ts, not to mention the ...

Re: Maui Womens Pro

As the tide drops there is a section of reef just on the inside that sticks up just above the water surface. Its like three coral heads or so. If you watch some heats you may see the girls either turn around it, float above and over it or hit it and go ass over breast. On the screen it will be hard ...

Re: Maui Womens Pro

its an insane spot when on but doesn't break well too often. When its good you can't park anywhere near the joint even if you want to surf it.

Re: North Shore Hawaii

What? you went to Hawaii in your honeymoon and didn't surf?.

That is the only reason I chose Hawaii for my honeymoon and timed it for the swell. Get your priorities right son.

Re: Step Downs

My understanding is that the Lost boards here are produced by Chilli on the Northern beaches (or by the people who work for him). If you order a custom here I think they just access the files directly and do the whole thing from here. Like I don't think the file gets sent from the USA as such. They ...

Re: Ask Carroll

Yeh got it. Coz water travels accross the bottom at a 45 degree angle. So any rocker curve at all means the water is not travelling accross a flat surface. Right?

Re: Ask Carroll

True. Tom's classic boards are very rarely 'normal'. Like some of those wide point forward with very pulled in rounded pin Phil Byrne's he was riding. I had a 5'10 one of his many years ago with 5 plugs (before anyone was doing 5 plugs) with straight tail rocker. Weird fkkink thing that only TC coul...

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick's suggestion re bottom for my step up sounds good. Part of me wants to just do slight entry vee to flat to vee off the back third for less chance of stuffing it. Then my mate suggested we just run the fukk^ through the machine. But does that kind of defeat the purpose? The alternative is he has...

Re: Ask Carroll

Nick, on the subject of longer boards: I am about to step into the shaping bay for the first time under the watchful eye of someone far more experienced than I. I am looking at having a hack at a 7'2 pintail gun. Mostly for bigger Sydney swells. At first I was thinking slight concave to vee in the b...

Re: Medewi in March

Oh and as far as winds it normally goes something like this:

Morning glass till about 10am = surf
Middle of day onshore = no surf and good chance to rest and avoid the sun
Late afternoon glass off = surf

Re: Medewi in March

I'm heading that way (sort of) myself in Feb. Let me just say that I have had some of the best (fun) and more uncrowded waves over there in Feb/ March. Just expect a bit more humidity.

Canggu is a circus for retro hipster kooks. I would not even bother with that place these days.

Like Pinhead I find its hunger that gets me if it not boredom. And no I'm not a fatty. I have a well defined solid athletic build and am hung like a Donkey. Which is why all the homos want to root me.
