Re: Pic of the day

What time Hatchy?
We dragged ourselves down for a look after lunch.
It was miserable and three guys out on The Southie.
Didn't see a rideable wave.
Big mushing lefts out the back.
Wind howling from the south.

Re: JBay.

Taking nothing away from Mick Fanning he is a great surfer and deserved to win but it would be great to have Parko comment something along the lines pre or during the event that "even though he is mates with Mick that he is fed up with coming up second best to him lately and that he desperately wan...

Re: Ask Carroll

I wonder how many old pros could pull off what Curren did? Given his previous signature performance at J Bay it was a bit like he claimed it in more ways than one. On another note, Nick, given your previous statements about having quite light boards last for years. Do you particularly go out of your...

Re: Ask Carroll

Well I'd say more lame but hey whatever floats your boat.
It could be some party lights and a few deck chairs or an acrylic ironic take on a candelabra or a gold nugget.

Re: Ask Carroll

I'm trying the best of both worlds approach: Get a board that is just right for me for 99% of daily surfing, but made from materials that make it an attractive wall-hanger and also very durable. I imagine it will hang on the wall of my retirement home, wherever it may be, because I may only have th...

Re: winter fourteen

Punched straight out the back at the causeway on the 6'11 Mickey Mac single I posted in iggs thread. Bit of a singlefin convention out there, some big boards trying to scratch into the sets marching through, Andrew Kidman was on a Sam Yoon shaped beast of a thing. Too sweepy and the few big ones I ...

Re: JBay.

I thought it was funny Curren was saying in his interview that the guy in the surf shop wasn't going to give him a board to ride in the comp.

Yeah, that would have been a wise business decision.

Re: JBay.

Speaking of Fuel TV, if you pressed info during last nights coverage, it said " the waves will be pumping at 18-20 feet ". Slight overcall. Probably written by someone who normally covers the cricket. Or surfline who use a different scale to the rest of the surfing world!!! Didn't see either of tho...

Re: Winter Guns... Wherefore art thou ..?

Coastalwatch recommended a McTavish Mal as the board of choice for today :-?

Re: JBay.

Curren's still schooling everyone. It just goes to show the natural footers are on some fundamental level, morally superior to goofies. Well of course there's that for sure :-D-: Do you reckon he gave Mick a bit of a spark on approach with his high line? It seemed to me a lot of people seemed to be...

Re: JBay.

Well those waves would do this old sea dog just fine. I reckon Fanning really got his groove in very well and it's good they hold contests in waves like that. Presumably if you don't like J Bay as a venue you don't like Bells either. The fact that so many competitors had so much trouble with it beca...

Re: JBay.

Well Current got pretty close.
Unbelievable.

I'm a bit confused cause the wave size calls seems about right to me.
Does that mean I have misinterpreted the Iggy Scale?
Or the ASP isn't using it?

Joel looking pretty good.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

A few hardy souls out at the Southie at Coogee. Didn't see anyone catch anything and the wind would blow your nipples off before you could get into your wetsuit. Probably freeze your nuts off too if you weren't quick changing.

Re: Ask Carroll

Like any kind of speculation it's what the collectors are prepared to pay that sets the price. Von Weirdo seems to sell a few. In the states they seem to be buying anything that has some provenance. A few major old shapers in Australia seem to be getting a decent price for reproductions. I've got a ...
