Re: Dark Pandemonium: Parko@Pipe.

That last wave for Parko in the semi was freakish. Worthy of a win on that wave alone.

Waves just didn't do it for Slater, which is so unusual, kept shutting down on him.

Nice cool way for Parko to win in the final too, coolly waiting and getting a couple of good ones towards the end.

Re: Dane Reynolds' Haleiwa turn

hmmm, haters, as the kids say these days, are gonna hate. I'd rather watch Dane tear the bag out of wave than some dude in a black wetsuit going straight on a fish because its "soulful." Surfing's been commercialised. Get over it. And that commercialisation doesn't undercut one little bit a turn th...

Re: Spring

com 'ere Olds, I want to kick you in the balls. LOL!!!!! I can understand how you might think I'm just stirring here DonW, but honestly, the east coast of NSW has had the best spring surf I can ever recall. Hardly been a flat day in two months, and been some big days, and been a lot of offshore day...

Re: places you will never surf again

I doubt I will ever surf in Qld again, especially as they don't seem to get any surf for half the year or more anyway.

I live at Coogee and have never surfed there, be damned if I'm going to start now.

Haven't surfed Bondi for maybe a decade and unlikely to go back.

Re: Magnesium ... good for ya health?

Been taking the occasional magnesium supplement but not in the doses you guys are. Can't see how your body could take up that much in a short space of time, and like most vitamins a lot must end up being pissed out. Or perhaps crapped out. Had a dose of the runs last night and this might explain it.

Re: Magnesium ... good for ya health?

True Ric, back problems can be from a thousand different sources. But for the average joe, tightness in hammies and moreso the glutes can lead to lower back pain and there are some very basic stretches I do to ward this off. I've got congenitally tight hammies, so they don't respond much to stretchi...

Re: Spring

Looks like peak is now early evening across North Coast with some solid 6-8ft surf on the cards. Bit of a change from the last couple of months of weak windswells you've guys have seen up there. Craig, that pic on the front cover of today's swellnet is as perfect a surf picture as I have ever seen....

Re: Magnesium ... good for ya health?

The best way to avoid hangovers is to drink regularly. If you only drink once in a blue moon, and then you have 4 or 5 one night, that can be enough to give you a hangover to die for. But if you drink regularly, your body seems to know what to do with the stuff. Didn't drink at all for about 10 year...

Re: Spring

Already there Steve, already done and dusted, that award has been handed out to Spring 2012, even if the next 6 weeks are abject flatness.

Why is surf flatness always 'abject'. Cliches united.

Re: Magnesium ... good for ya health?

When I saw the first post to this thread I thought the boys would be smashing it, seeing as how we are so happy to receive advice from anyone in a form that looks suspiciously like an advertisement. But blow me down, you all took it on face value, who woulda thunk it. I've been genuinely tired for w...

Do you think anyone would remember 6 months after the collapse?

Apart from the actual pro surfers that is. And their managers I suppose, and a menagerie of hanger's-on.

You certainly get the impression that Kelly Slug has no desire to give anything back to recreational surfers. I love this term 'giving back'. What could Kelly possibly give me as a recreational surfer, other than a back rub and maybe a little pat on the tush as he sees me skip away. Glory be,...

we'll discuss this further outside the Bar at the RS BBQ just me and you  edit: while we're both cherry picking I'll see your 1-2 to 2-3ft days and raise you the Andy Irons swell of 2010. Clean 3-5ft E swell for 3 days with offshore winds (2-5Nov). Ain't seen nothing remotely of that size ...
