Re: twin fins....the board time forgot

twin-fins and twin-keeled fishes are two very different animals.

Not related by design lineage at all.

There's always plenyy Hinano's out there.

John John admitted to being "tired" (advancing the tsetse fly theory) and said he used to get dressed as a spaceman on the North Shore.

what do you think about that Roy?

Re: Ipswich: Australia's newest international surf destinati

Two polite points carvin marlin It is sand based there and as such the sand will one day return and it b epic again....so u will always have a argument against improving (if it dosent make it actually worse...kirra!) known breaks. Agreed x a thousand. and I'd say beachbreaks in populated areas. No ...

Re: Teahupoo 2012

seems like the earlier more westerly component of the swell (209degrees via stormsurf, which corresponds to the first incarnation south of NZ) is being replaced by better quality swell with more southerly component

Re: Teahupoo 2012

Correct.

swell direction is pretty west, which accounts for the waves which run and grow onto dry reef.

Re: Ipswich: Australia's newest international surf destinati

As for artificial reefs, I've sat in a room full of really bright people who know shiteloads about the Aus coast and the processes that affect it. Boo knows alot of 'em. There's very good evidence that reefs with a coastal protection element bought into the equation could be extremely valuable at mi...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...

Yeah, I've got a 3/2 Fireskin.

Wore it lightly up here (less than a 20 times) and it ripped from under arm to chest down at Bells this year (just out of warranty).

Sent it to Rip Curl and they fixed it foc.

Warm wetty but I would have been spewing if they hadn't fixed it.

Re: Teahupoo 2012

On a 6-8ft day an 8ft+ wave is not a bomb set.

A ten foot set is a bomb set.

Bomb set would a set significantly bigger than the normal set waves. 8ft+ is not significantly bigger than 8ft.

OK calls locked in.

Surfline: 8-10-12ft faces with bigger 15ft+ faces bomb sets ( 4-6ft with bomb 8ft sets)

Shearer: Incon 5-6ft with bomb 8ft sets.

Brokensha: 6-8ft with bigger bomb sets (10ft?)

Don: Incon 6-8ft with bigger bomb sets (sorry Don 8ft+ is not a bigger bomb set).

Re: Teahupoo 2012

8-12ft faces = 4-6ft.

But I think they are overcooking a notch. Especially because they are event forecasters and need a Hollywood finish.
