If the wind finally swings, it could get really good here. The southeaster has barely dropped below 15 knots for days.Davros wrote:Not really on the Northern side. Manly was ok.3-6ft. Checked from Narrabeen down and a washing machine.steve shearer wrote:Nothing happening down Sydney way?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Had a look this arvo, agree Sydney wasn't as big as I was expecting. Almost as if the onshore had pushed it down/made it to crumbly to show its real size.

That swell direction make such a difference, never noticed such a contrast. Sunday under an East swell was great, the swing to South on Monday turned it into long closeouts.Davros wrote:Manly again. Banks are craptastic

On my last channel bottom, the shaper said no extra charge from me but the glasser adds $20 per channel!

Manly, down towards the corso. Offshore, chest high maybe a touch bigger, decent banks. Fun as.

And don't go to a GP to check them. Go to a skin specialist/dermatology clinic.

Just watched a bit of the Hurley Pro at Manly on the TV at work.
Can't imagine having to surf in crap like that to try and make it on the tour.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I clobbered a guy with my board yesterday. One of those situations where not much could be done I guess. I caught a wave under the lip and got caught in the foamball. Old mate was at least 50 metres away, but paddling for the shoulder. I hoped he'd turn back into the white water but he didn't. I co...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I was really thinking about that watching Slater at last years Snapper. ie Was his wave pool going to give him some sort of edge. All those perfect right handers he'd been training on, was he going to unleash something new. As it turned out, Snapper was high tide and kind of wobbly, flat faced and ...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I reckon it would be great for that fine tuning aspect. I'm with Offy on this one, imagine (cash permitting) having 10 different board, all same design except varying levels of concave, or all varieties of tail shapes. It could really lead to some design breakthroughs, take some of the subjectivity ...

Re: Bucket List
I think it needs to be a bit more specific.
J-Bay - 6 foot (Iggy scale) on a 6'10" channel bottom but in Autumn so not in a super thick wetsuit
Honolua Bay - Again 6 foot (Iggy scale), not uber-crowded.
Chicama - 4-6 foot, riding a 6'6" to get the leg burning length of ride.
Morocco - Pointbreaks
