Re: Jackson Biscuits
I thought it about Mark... BIG TIME. It was a very aethetically pleasing board. I want a board with 5 fin plugs in a 6'5 rounded pin. A 6'4 Squash tail straight thruster was just a little too far from what i had in mind. And i want to be able to ride a few before committing the $$$$. I don't have an...

Re: Jackson Biscuits
I went to Aloha Manly and took a 5'8 Channel Islands Biscuit for a test ride today. It was 1-2ft Max onshore mush at manly/queenscliff. Weren't many surfable waves around. Board paddled well through the water and i wasn't up to my armpits in water when waiting for sets. I'd need the 5'10 if i was go...

Re: help me become a mal rider.
You made a very good point Wanderer. The last time i was down at mollymook i got caught out without a mal because there was swell everywhere. The sets were overhead and a half but tough to get into on the the shorty. The old guys on Mals were dominating the big soft lefts that day surfing exactly ho...

Re: Jackson Biscuits
should i be renaming this thread to "what's Jet's idea of the ultimate quiver?" I've always loved surfing my 6'8 Waterskate but the "duckdivability" of it is shit house, and this is what pushed me into trying 1000 different boards in the first place. Hiding in the channel at cronulla point wa...

" get rid of all the other crap and get someone, why not pridmore to shape you a good quality all round thruster."
Hey dinosaur someone sent me these wise words once.
How about looking into this before branching out into something more adventurous?

Re: Quadfather Project Board....
If the board's still in cronulla, any chance of a wave? I'm off work from Wednesday to Saturday and could organise delivery somewhere between Cronulla and the Gong.
Either way it's no dramas.

Re: Jackson Biscuits
Mark. When it comes to skill...i'm a pretty shit surfer. But i love it just as much as the next realsurfer and just want to get a little better... So i'm thinking if i take some of the variables out of what's under my feet then i might be able to concentrate on where i'm surfing on the wave to get t...

Re: Jackson Biscuits
IGGY and CPT. I see where you're coming from, but i should be a little clearer, I've currenlty got a few boards that i tend to ride in similar conditions. 9ft Modern Contour Stringer (a must for 1-2ft crumblers) 6'8 Miller Waterskate (great for 3-4ft crumblers) 6'2 Firewire Dominator (2-4ft when it'...

Jackson Biscuits
Has anyone ridden a Jackson Biscuit?
They look a little more performance orientated than the Al Merrick ones.
Been thinking of selling up most of my quiver and sticking with the same board to improve my surfing.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I don't remember the last time i went this long without a surf... Just got back from New Zealand... missed the SW swell by a day due to a bbq "we just had to go to". Flat/onshore for the rest of the trip.
Looking forward to hearing Don's pacific island stories. tempted to go myself.

Re: Length and Volume
Jumped on a bargain today... Going to have a look at Beerfan's "too much volume theory" Picked up a Miller V-skate 6'1 x 20 x 2 1/2 with a nice blue paint job on it. Now i just need waves. Looks like xmas morning should have something about. Heading up to visit some family in the Swansea/Belmont are...

Re: Help for a noob (re: fishes and/or mini mals)
I second the Miller Waterskate recommendation... i'm 5'10 and 83kg and i got a 6'8 x 21 x 2 3/4 rounded pin, from Grant a few years ago. Have surfed it in 1ft to head high, and some of my best surfs have been on it. I've had a 7'0 Powerglide as well. Prefer the waterskate though, especially for beac...

Re: Length and Volume
I've never done any swimming or paddling training, but a mate that i surf with often used to be a gun swimmer... He used to pay me out for my poor stroke when i first started surfing, but since then (3 years) i've improved a fair bit. Whilst i'm still not the best paddler i'll look into that Paddlin...
