Whats the verdict on the asym feel pirate?
Looks bizarre to me, but functionally it makes perfect sense.

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"
When paddling the nose of the board barely breaks the surface, usually stays just under. When sitting on the board the water is around chest line. It is EPS/epoxy mind you...Cuttlefish wrote:Captain on a 32 litre board where is the waterline up to if you had the board level in the water under you?

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"
Volume helps a lot but its still effected by quite a few things. The way a board presents itself to the water as it paddles effects how well that volume is put to use. A parallel outline or lower rocker moves through the water much better than curvey rocker or outline. As nick was mentioning, the ov...

Re: Epiphany
Looks like great fun! I'ven ever ridden a 2+1, how would you describe the drive down the line and through turns? You've surfed round-tail quads before, and I'm very familair with those. Theres a palpable increase in drive through turns compared to an equivalent thruster. How would you describe the c...

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"
I read a long discussion on swaylocks about volume versus planing area/total surface area. There were quite a few shapers that were pretty confident that planing area/surface area was a lot more important than volume for both paddling and planing speed. They even shaped boards with identical surface...

Re: post your modern day sickness
I have to say, I'm still pretty sold on the new re-working of the simmons for everyday surfing. Parallel outline to wide tail, forward widepoint, fins set back a little further than usual. Steady medium rocker with late nose flip and snub nose. Volume foiled out similar to a HPS. The rest of the det...

Re: Hypto Krypto voted "board of the year"
I don't think I have noticed a single person post here yet who actually likes/rides them as a regular board.
If anyone here does, why did you/would you choose this board over another shortboard?
Interested to hear the reasons, whatever they are...

If you continue that nose you almost have a step-up pintail quad there. Great for the barrel I can imagine? Unless you made it too corky for the barrel with thickness?

Re: V. small wave grovellers
I'll pop some photos of the Fish Finger up later. In the meantime you can check it out on Pridmores website for MORE surfboards. Its high volume to surf small waves really easily. Super straight planshape with a round nose and wide square tail. A super deep single and tiny little keels control it ju...

You're talkin my language !pirate_agenda wrote: too long for a micro groveller ... chop 6 inches off the nose, re blend it to almost round/stub style, and maybe a bit more width in the tail and it would work better in tiny waves imo.

Re: Help: DHD Double Shot + DHD Sweet Spot ??
I'm with shearer, if its going to be your only board just get something with enough volume to catch waves easily, peferably shaped to plane well in the small waves that you normally surf, and just spend some time getting used to it. If its your only board all you need is it to get enough waves, and ...

Thanks mate, I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out ! Mind you I had a lot of help from Craig at Splash Ding Repairs, he did most of the work and I sanded the channels. I did go through the glass to the foam a couple of times with the channels but with UV resin and a flashing bay it was so easy t...
