Re: Just general surfing stuff

That would work, still be a PITA. The only other option to avoid the gumtree time waste is take ‘em to a board shop and put them on consignment.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

I’m not saying what you infer cranked. There are also implications for other species if the balance of apex predators gets out of whack. I am saying there is a high probability there will be increasing “interactions” (to use the euphemism), with bigger animals, in coming years. Or in plain terms, an...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

#2 That’s basically my thinking - after following the program since the get go, generally out of interest. There’s a lot more to than anyone thought, they reproduce and grow faster than thought, and in a couple of years those 2.5 m average size will be 3m plus and switching to larger prey than fish ...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

@ alakaboo, in the context of what you said above, what are the ‘political’ consequences?
Not pissing off the ‘huggers’?
Playing down the rapidly increasing numbers?
Not scaring tourists?

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m down with all the research bit, it’s the information bit that is lacking. It has been during the entire program.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

Another thing, everything they write is framed around ‘improving conservation efforts’. Protection was enacted in 1998. What the fcuk else can you do? The program was funded (by the taxpayer) not specifically to write a bunch of papers. Sean Doherty touched on that here; https://www.coastalwatch.com...

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?

No problem. Glad you mentioned the question that had been asked by many since the start of the program - do the receivers identify individuals? This had only been confirmed recently, as is multiple hookings of the same animal. For some time it’s been thought they they’re keeping some things to thems...

A new scientific paper!
Some very interesting observations.
Very interesting what’s not mentioned too.
Draw your own conclusions

Got out for a quick one then the wind cruelled it.
Not big but a bit of punch and line after line after line coming through.

Re: Look at Me Now headland

I’ve fished the southern part for some years on/off, in a tiny tinny.
My bro has a 5m Savage side console, we won’t be going outside with 4 young kids onboard, but might well put out a few big baits in the channel and see what we can scare up.

Re: Look at Me Now headland

Pro tip: on the toboggan wait as long as you can at the top to allow maximum room from the slow coach tourist in front so you don’t have to hit the brakes until the very end.

As for me I’ve got a week of boating/fishing on Lake Mac coming up.

Re: Look at Me Now headland

Another quality point or two would certainly be nice. Plenty of sheltered (smaller) options if the winds are funky, but no, might have to drive an hour as wyre implies.
