Re: that wetsuit discussion...

I got a Rip Curl 4/3 hooded zip-free suit about 5 months ago. Water in Santa Cruz was very fcuken cold this year

First time I have ever had a zip-free suit and I quite like it. Works with my Gath helmet as well.

Re: General snow stuff

I went snowboarding a few weeks ago at Dodge Ridge in California First time I have ever been to the snow in my life :o People who tell you surfers translate to snowboarding well are full of shit - there is nothing, I repeat nothing in common :x I wiped out so many times, and my body was sore for a w...

Re: Just general surfing stuff

Some of the streets in San Francisco are fcuken mental, they are the reason why in California you need to turn your wheels to the gutter when parking to prevent it rolling or you get a fine. I can only imagine the early days of cars with shitty brakes in that city, they would have been like missiles...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Pleasure Point for the early. 5 - 7' high tide and freezing cold. Took my shitty short board and regretted its lack of paddle power but glad I could duck dive the bigger sets. Getting out and onto waves in those conditions with all the water sloshing around made me realize how un-paddle fit I still ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Pleasure Point again, decent 3 - 4 foot size but I seemed to fcuk up everything that came my way. Not a great session but nice to be in the water.

Water is too fcuken cold, I need a new 4/3, and a zip free one at that. I'm done with back zip suits

I've got a wide, high volume 6'7" to offload Grooter.

I bought it from Craigslist but realized it's way too big for me.
Send me some pics mate, will be happy to take a look

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Pleasure Point. Was about 6ft (8ft) on the sets. Took my smaller 6"6' board so I could duck dive but haven't ridden it in about 6 months so it felt like I was surfing on a paint tin lid. It's got the volume for my ample girth but it's too narrow for me. When I get my wider Miller board over here it'...

Re: Sending a board overseas

Groots, I knew the Franko connection, but somehow thought you were in/around the nicer environs of Merricks, Balnarring, Shoreham. No? I was just being a smartarse. I think he maybe lived on the MP. Nah fellas I was born and raised in Franga. Went to Karingal High School, played local footy for the...

Re: Sending a board overseas

Why the change in plans? Keep an eye on the 8 year rule if you're going to a green card. Kids like it here. Especially the eldest that has her heart set on going to a US College. Wife and I miss Australia for family and friend reasons but there is more opportunity over here than Australia and where...

Re: Sending a board overseas

Just to play the devils advocate here…….there are a plethora of world class shapers in California who make boards specifically for Californian Waves. There are also about 10 times more surfboards floating around new and secondhand. Surely it’s less hassle to buy one. For sure, but its for sentiment...

A grant Miller sounds perfect for California.
Air New Zealand should be fine for boards to the US I reckon.

Re: Sending a board overseas

I can’t see it being a problem. I’ve got 2 x V-skates, both 7’ One is 1/4” narrower than the other, but otherwise identical. Grant has hung up his planer now. You need to get that baby over there. Ah fcuk I thought he had. Great shaper. I have an 8'6" custom single fin from him as well. Great perfo...

Re: Sending a board overseas

What airline? United lets you have 2 boards up to 9'4" if flying to California. My brother brought one over for me last year. My Aussie boards don't work that well here, but they're a mix of Sydney and Gold Coast shapes. Vicco boards may be better. Air New Zealand. It's suited for 4 - 6 feet Vicco ...

Re: Sending a board overseas

People fly all around the world travelling with boards, why would that be a problem? I didn't think it would be but with COVID and all the fcuking around with flights I wanted to check You’re going to ship a 15 year old board to The States? When is the last time you surfed it? Three years ago. I'm ...

Sending a board overseas

I have a dilemma. About 15 years ago Grant Miller shaped me a beautiful custom V-Skate 7' thruster. I love that board and I miss it. Currently it's sitting in my shed gathering dust in a board bag probably serving as a bordello for red back spiders. I'm coming back home for a visit this year and tho...
