Re: skateboarding ...

I have found that middle age skating is a world of pain. I watched my son evolve from a 10 year old skate rat to now being a elder (at 21 lol) custodian of the Bondi bowl. He was always a big fan of the five dock park. And he reckoned the Macquarie Fields one was brilliant I tried to get him into s...

Re: skateboarding ...

Just took my son to his 2nd skate lesson, this time at Dulwich hill. Wow, what a set-up. I had a bad fall about a month ago where I landed on my tailbone. I've only just recovered and lost all my confidence :x Anyway, my boy's learning heaps and loving it, and it's a bit of much-needed quality time...

Re: skateboarding ...

80a is pretty soft and would be good for street, hotmix or rougher surfaces. but if you’re gonna skate bowls, particularly hard smooth concrete it might pay you to get a hard compound set also, like 98a or above. Have you been to five dock bowls before? No I haven't. Might need to work up to that

Re: skateboarding ...

Nice. Indy 169 trucks? What compound wheels did you go for? Not sure to be honest. It was a stock complete and this option seems to have dropped off their website (or maybe I can't find it). Pretty sure the wheels are 60mm and at the softer end of the spectrum, maybe 80a? You could really spend up ...

Re: skateboarding ...

After a lot of dicking around and indecision I went into Basement Skate with my son yesterday and got myself an early fathers' day present. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/BVEAAOSw3RtbTNqU/s-l500.jpg So many old and new shapes and styles to choose from, but I couldn't pass up the classic shapes and a...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Took my 7'6 hybrid out for a run at longy. First time since it's been reborn as a single fin. Too small to get a feel for it unfortunately

My son's skating obsession shows no sign of abating. By sheer chance the below skate comp was on right out front of the hotel we were staying in a Waikiki last week http://www.thrashermagazine.com/articles/videos/hell-of-a-paradise-2018-video/ Apart from watching some great skating I got to see the...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Waikiki :-D-: hired a waterlogged 10 footer and joined the throng for a couple of hrs. Took a while to get a wave. I was too respectful and careful not to drop in. I soon realized dropping in is almost compulsory

Re: skateboarding ...

Presumably close to where you live there’s a snake run at north rocks. Your son (and you) would enjoy it. John Wearn Park, Cnr Balaka Drive & Farnell Avenue. Take a broom and a dustpan in case there’s sticks or junk in there. Open run you can roll into that winds and turns with banked walls you can...

Re: skateboarding ...

My 11 year old has got madly into skating. It's kinda nice because he's never really shown a passion for anything before. Now he constantly wants me to take him out to skate, and I'm starting to think about getting a little cruiser so I can go with him. I have a longboard/carver but I need something...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

^ agreed. there was something rideable at Collaroy but with a nipper carnival I couldn't get a fcuking park. Had a look at the corner at DY and was about to go home then grabbed a park. Paddled out at the point for my first surf there  Small and fat but kinda fun for something different.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Longy was crowded too, plus some aggro in the water. Not bad but pretty all over the place when I went out. An hour later the crowd had backed off and it'd sorted itself out a bit. Decent albeit fat lefts and rights.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

There was dolphins? In that case you would be fine mate. I always figured they feed on similar fish so if there's dolphins there'd be sharks too. Do they bugger off when the dolphins are around? (I feel I should know more about this but to be honest I never really thought much about sharks until th...
