Although you can see seal rocks (big seal colony hence the name) from Flinders/Shoreham/Pt Leo shark attacks are still very, very rare at these reefs. I reckon they prefer feeding on seals than us anyway and catching what the fishermen don't. Not all of them are man-eaters. Sea planes regularly pat...

I can't comment on the west coast of Vic around Bells, Jan Juc etc... as I'm right on the other side of the bay. However on the East Coast Feb is usually pretty good. You generally get some nice light northerlies which are excellent for the Portsea to Flinders stretch. Winds from the south west are ...

Yep I still wear my steamer and probably will all summer down here.

I don't get cold wearing it and I don't overheat either so it makes no difference to me, it's a 3x2.

It also minimises me getting sunburnt which is a big deal as I burn easy.

Soft or hard? Couldn't give a f.uck.

I agree. Salty you are a man-battered turd muncher (best I can do at short notice!)

On another note someone once called me a communist.

And no-ones called me a kook either  I feel dirty and ashamed.

One thing I found that never worked was grabbing hold of the rails and trying to get up that way. I found I would always fall forwards as my weight transferred too far forward.

Placing my palms on the edges of the board and doing a push up arching my back gave me a lot more control.

Geez some of you guys need to loosen your g-strings a bit. From looking at the links I'm more of the Taj school of thought. This is how I have always done it, which I am by no means saying is correct either, just that it works fine for me on my board (mini-mal). I couldn't give a rats fanny whether ...

Never done it and never will. Far too bloody dangerous out in the water to be peaking off your face. Especially at a place like Gunnamatta on a strong day, you would die. I stopped using drugs years ago, complete waste of money and stuffs your life up too much. Seen them destroy some of my friends l...

Bakery for me too, can't beat it.

Although a big bottle of gatorade straight afterwards helps with the recovery too.

Being a Vic local I've only ever surfed in one other state on a holiday as a teeny bopper and that was Bondi. Which, I know, doesn't count. But would have to agree, you'll always find a wave and there is a massive amount of variety too. And that's just on the East Coast side. They are all well away ...
