Re: Worth a few cents...

No one has mentioned that Jim bank's theory goes out the window if you snap a board! Fixing it costs a lot, and then if you try to sell it its not easy to get much more than what it cost to fix. In saying that i'm all for custom boards, and MORE than happy with my 3 customs that give me a pretty wel...

Re: Manly Tsunami?!?!

I studied natural hazards at Macquarie under that bloke in the article, Dale Dominy-Howes. In around 2004 he was doing a lot of work for Manly council with regards to development, the sea wall, and possibilities of hazards like this article discusses. He used to get the st!ts because after asking fo...

Re: What's the largest wave you've ridden?

One thing I like about when it gets big is needing to take a number of full paddle strokes up the face of the swell as you're paddling out. Love that feeling of really having to paddle up the face of a big wave (provided it's not about to swat you). That is an awesome feeling. Only really felt it a...

Re: What's the largest wave you've ridden?

Double overhead is about my limit, and only when I'm pumped and in the mood for it. Been smashed by 8-10 footers, but biggest ridden would probably have been at Budgewoi. Big south swell, out front of clubhouse was 4 foot max, with a strong sweep tearing you north up the beach where sets were up to ...

Re: Lost some weight, been doin abs, surfing better.

swimming, next best thing to surfing for surfing fitness I reckon. Some push-up too. with feet on the couch for shoulders and on dumbells for chest. Also balance on a skate deck, trucks removed, on a 2 ltr bottle, roll around, get really low and hold grabs for as long as possible. Good for balance a...

Re: Most consistent stretch of coast? (EC)

I'd say Woolongong the brave to Newcastle has more good surf breaks (as opposed to gets the most swell) than anywhere per klm. If you chuck in Nelson Bay as well its a no contest. Of course this is just as well since youve got three of OZs biggest cities as a catchment :? :? Yeah we'd be fcuked in ...

Re: Most consistent stretch of coast? (EC)

interesting to hear the opinions. Ive heard people rip sydney off so often (got mates who hate it for surf) but i reckon what they really hate is the crowds. I reckon that if the NB had no crowds, it would be one of the best stretches for surf on the entire east coast. Just lacks consistently long w...

not really gonna learn anything new talking on the forums about it, especially cause its gonna be a pretty standard board. um, disagree.. like i said at the start of the thread, it was like a flow on from the FCS quad thread, where everyone was either an expert, or on the attack or defense, but the...

[quote="ric_vidalthey may all look pretty much the same but magic ones are just that. Re: Most consistent stretch of coast? (EC)

Good question and worthy of some serious debate in my view (without giving away your favourite spots of course). West coasts will deliver better swell, east coasts will always be brides-maids, relying on refracted swells and swells that go against the general direction. Why are Mentawais so good? L...

Most consistent stretch of coast? (EC)

Been thinking for a while what the most consistent stretch of coast on the east coast is?? Not Sunshine coast, dont think id say goldy....North/Mid north coast maybe......I reckon central coast and Sydney would be up there...but not quite....north of Newy a good bet.....sth coast seems a good bet to...
