Re: Shortboard Hydrofoils

I've been doing a few other projects, I 3-D printed a universal fin box that takes all FCS, Futures and FCS-II fins.
And now I'm starting to design an incorporated control system that fits inside the surfboard.
The universal fin box is now a file where anyone can download it and print them out.

Re: Shortboard Hydrofoils

All good Capt, thanks for asking ! Hows your new life ? Ive seen a few pics of your shaping skills and you're doing a great job. Foils are always in and out of the water, the design is easy to change but the theory of how and why it works isn't easy to refine. But certainly the longitudinal arrangem...

Re: SUP's

Just rode one yesterday at Club Mona ( Mona Vale ), first impression is that it's not surfing, doesn't even feel like I have any connection with the subtleties of the water. I know people ride Pipeline on them but the thickness and the XXXL dims make them so unlikeable in the surf for all concerned....

Re: Kelly Leaves Quiksilver

More likely he's seen enough of Qwiky, it's been a long marriage and he also sees a life after competition. He's left his imprint on pro surfing for eternity, now its time hor him to live without the pressure to win.
He's making the transition from pro Legend into retired Icon.

Cheynes 30th Bells Anniversary.

I think it was 1984 when Cheyne won Bells so that's 30 years ago.
I wonder if they try to organise a legends event each year ?
Does Cheyne still ride Lazor Zaps ?

Hi Chris, if you're on the northern beaches I can do free repairs. Poly or epoxy. Ive stopped making full boards but I like to keep my skills. May take several weeks...

Otway, sounds like a great holiday ! That's why mats are perfect for travelling.
Ive just today ordered a mat from Graeme at G-Mats in the UK, custom colours and artwork. I'll post it here when I get it.

Re: Roy breaks down on live radio today

I was surprised by the cultured voice with a gentle accent, dunno what I expected but there was a careful intelligent approach to each question and quite a practised manner at explaining things. The voice doesn't match the beard and the swords and the gritty persona that comes through on forums. You...

Re: Roy breaks down on live radio today

Good interview, I didn't expect you to sound the way you do, don't know if that's a compliment or not but it was good to put a voice to the beard !
Well done.

Re: What we've been up to:

I'm sure its a combination of fin, the board and the rider, you look more committed to manouvers, totally in control, that board looks to have a bit of extra nose rocker ?
Or is it just the camera angle ?

Re: floatation aid

On the legal angle, watersports are inherently dangerous, it would take a change in the legal system to attribute culpability to a safety product if it went through all the tests and accreditation that's necessary to get a product like this on the market. And there's always business insurance to cov...

Re: floatation aid

in an environment like the surf , or in any body of water, its a lethal situation to lose conciousness, any flotation device isnt really there to save your life, more to delay death. So I dont think any product colud be considered a life saver. Ideally its not going to be an ugly lump strapped to yo...

Re: floatation aid

All right, here's my one day solution.... Ive had a chat with a few anaethetists about keeping the airway open and they recommend pushing the head slightly forward and tilted slightly upwards, like you're sniffing coffee in another room. Certainly not having the chin down ! Anyway here's my basic dr...
