I went to a fe shops looking at boards this arvo, a while since I’ve done that.

The choice of models and styles is mind boggling. All it left me wanting was a few thousand dollars to buy 3 or 4.

Sunrise looked like the poster for Apocalypse Now.

Surf had some push but was relegated to some straight banks.

7’0” cb bonzer egg
6’5” replacement for my all rounder.


Have everything else I want/need.

Not that you know me Channels, but no I'm not an ex pro who surfs maxing Sunset. However, can tell you lunch time yesterday the long reef car park was full and the there was a decent 4/5 ft that had a bit of power in it, not heavy by any stretch and it was packed off the lugga. I don't understand this swell, or lack of, yet. Did the dawn run on Saturday, DY barely breaking and Manly really inconsistent. Flagged it for the early and hit it just adter midday. I reckon a few people could get into trouble today, if you time the paddle out well, you could get out with dry hair. Still plenty of kooks on longboards able to get out then going backwards over the falls when the sets come. Carnage and collisions all over the place.

Got a message from a mate on the Goldie, he paddled out at Greenmount and ended up down at Kirra. Apparently plenty of jet skis helping mates beat the sweep.

Had a crack in the wind. Hard work, 5 foot or so, cleanup sets to deal with, rips and strong winds. A bit fun!

Hmmm...surf report 7/10. Reality a little different.

Hitting south end of beach and was missing north end, ie not wrapping yet.

It's come up a lot. But a bit directional at this stage.

It was still as good as flat at north steyne yet south end was seeing long chest high lines although overpowering the banks into closeouts.

Just a bit of swell hype. 5.50am and the Manly carparks just about full and nearly too small to surf.
