Re: flippers

Fong, if you're getting cramps it's probably because your flippers are cutting off blood flow. The most common place is the top of the foot. I'm guessing you've got high arches or wide feet. I've got both and flippers aren't made for me. Buy your flippers a size too big based on their size chart and...

Re: Smokers butts going into the water at Dee Why

Couldn't agree more, if there's one word that comes to mind when I think of smoking in public places, that word would be "refreshing". Without a doubt, the problem here is that the council banned passive smoking, and that other people don't clean up after the smokers. Not the selfish fcuktards who w...

Re: My new board (pics)

Sorry Jorgo, missed the question. There's a slightly hullish entry back to the first logo, then moderate single back to the second logo. The gloss makes the single look a bit deeper than it is, and it does look like a pronounced chine that isn't there. Increasing and quite pronounced vee from there ...

Re: 6'6'' egg

Very nice egg boo!. I'll bet it is tonnes of fun. Under rated shape the ole egg. Im going the single/2+1 with mine, but in the future i'd like to buy/build one with more rocker and a thruster setup for the same reasons, a bit more versatility and performance in average waves. Is it light boo?? Yeah...

Re: 6'6'' egg

I've got a similar shape Beerfan (from Huie), and it's a quad. Designed a bit more for performance than glide, but it runs well in the fat stuff. Surfs so much better than you'd expect from a big wide board. Probably the board that allows me to surf most evenly forehand or backhand. https://lh4.goog...

Re: surf rage. solved. apparently...

Now, as Neil Lazarow and many others have argued, recreational amenity on the Southern Gold Coast quite clearly and self-evidently includes surfing. So the operation of the TRESBP must take into account gains or losses in surfing amenity in Coolangatta Bay and elsewhere. I'll happily argue the poin...

Re: surf rage. solved. apparently...

The trend, of less pumping, was always the plan. They deliberately flooded the area with sand, not just through pumping but also through a massive dredging campaign. They've learnt a fair bit more about the way sand moves through the area, so they have changed not only the volumes but also the way t...

They are still pumping Braithy. Just not as much.
They recently negotiated a new contract, up to 2024.

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I'm still surprised to hear you say Sunday was smaller Steve? Wave buoys beg to differ, unless you're comparing to dusk on Saturday afternoon? Footage from Sunday certainly shows it solid on the open beaches/points. Haven't looked at the wave buoys Don, but I'd guess that the Hmax may have been hig...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

nice words, Steve. With you on the butterflies. I thought I had a couple of Birdwings in the garden the other day and remembered a butterfly show at primary school that said they were all but done. A bit of googling suggests they were probably Blue Triangles. http://www.richmondbirdwing.org.au/image...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

was very locally variable on the sunny coast. 3-4 with half hourly 6 footers on Sunday at high tide, 3 foot at low. Bloody fun. 5 kms away it was heaving 6 footers every 10 minutes and almost unsurfably heavy

Re: Mexico

Shoulda got insurance. Mexican insurance. Your hire or credit card company might say they cover you, but without Mexican insurance the cops can impound your car and auction it back to you. I didn't care to test the legalities of the system, for the sake of about 20 bucks we were covered. When you dr...

I like watching Dane surf, seems to perform way better when he is relaxed so I think Snapper will be interesting.

Massive tangent here - what ever happened to Ben Dunn?
maybe he watched a vid of himself surfing and died of boredom?
