Cool, I just hope no-one gets school sores from surfing in the human soup.
maybe wash in disinfectant after surfing.

Re: Ipswitch: Australia's newest international surf destinat
Looks like Pimpama gets the gong.
Who here amongst our Brisbane residing brethren would stop off on the way home from the Goldy to throw down some shredding at the Pimpama wave park?
Or drive down on a surfless spring evening to lay down some turns?

Re: Winter: La Nina refuses to leave the building.
I predict we'll go from the worst winter in recent memory to an equally tragic spring.
Hopefully, one last strong blast of southern energy to at fire during Sep.
I'm looking forwards to Jan/Feb for the next quality wave and the hopes of a classic autumn on the El Nino rebound.

Chile/Peru getting bombarded.
And Northern Luzon/Taiwan .......I know a secret left reef that would be off chops.
No boats, no whitey, nothing there. Just a few farmers and oxen.

If you like lining up with a million sweaty retards to play in the chlorine.
I'd rather mow the lawn, go flathead fishing or eat a piece of fried dog caca.

Re: Teahupoo 2012
Nick, every thing you said and wrote about strongly indicated an early finish to save money......and yet they have done the complete opposite. Waited until the death, costing maximum money on a far from sure thing.
Why is that?
Someone with balls has stood up to the bean counters.

Re: Ipswitch: Australia's newest international surf destinat
In any case: why anybody thinks by making more waves in a highly urbanised environment that you're gonna reduce the number of surfers has always completely fcuken baffled me. All the currently available evidence points in exactly the opposite direction. x a million. Webber's pool built in the Hunte...

Re: Teahupoo 2012
Yeah, pretty zonal, and far south too.
Latest ASCAT passes look a bit better, a perk up in the fetch as it came SE of NZ.
Like I said, never really aims up but radial spread from a broad, long source fetch should see the best of the waiting period.

Re: Teahupoo 2012
Stoked they are waiting for waves.
That storm looks OK now as it rounds the south island. Never quite aims up and delivers into the Tahitian window but radial spread from a very broad source fetch should see some high quality incon 4-6ft surf.
Trades seem to re-organize by Fri/Sat too.

Re: Winter: La Nina refuses to leave the building.
the forecast was heavily reliant on the captured fetch scenario creating an active sea state to a certain extent a So what size did eventuate around your next of the woods? The captured fetch and active sea state are two separate phenomena. And, no I don't believe there was a captured fetch in this...

Re: Winter: La Nina refuses to leave the building.
The only thing I said about it was the above: a classique little onion. Zero hype here. I hated the sight of it from the start as it only meant heartbreak and bank destruction. and yes, I've hindcast it. Classic pattern: the initial fetch development was in the swell shadow of the Hunter Hook and la...

Re: Teahupoo 2012
Yeah, the prime NZ swell window looks pretty fcuked till that system flares up around the 21/22.
It does get some wrap from swell in the southern Ocean and some bizarre little SE swell from those anomalous pinched/cut-off lows in the central Pac.

Re: Winter: La Nina refuses to leave the building.
Hey DonW, you overcalled the fcuk out of that last south swell. Would you care to hindcast and revise the f/cast? here was your call : Just for clarity, my exact words were "I would have thought it would be an easy 8ft+ at these locations (with potentially even bigger rogue sets)", so IMO, that's bi...

It's like going down the walls of the Grand Canyon and seeing this evolution unfold before your eyes.
Back when the trilobites and amoeba ruled RealSurf.
So fascinating.
