I think the arguement for why tuflites cost so much goes like this: the costs of tooling up to make them, more labour intensive construction methods, internationally famous designs and the fact that you have a virtually ding free board that will retain its resale value. I bought one second hand a fe...

had a run-in at sth straddie. burleigh local tried to pull his same tricks up there so i said something like "mate, its not burleigh, so chill out". bloody kook started going off and punched me in head. so i, being relatively small and largely stoopid, lept off my board to gain momentum and connect...

I remember seeing a similar incident earlier this year. It ended up with the guy screaming at his nemesis who was telling him to take it easy, then screaming at everyone in the general vicinity as a bunch of blowins. Hadn't seen much of him around the traps come to think of it :? Maybe he was just a...

Gee, I don't know guys. How many posts are happening in the mal section right now? How many posts on nose riding can you make :D ? How can you argue a case for traditional style logging if you only talk to yourselves? I started fooling around with longboards myself about thirteen or fourteen years a...

I always had the impression from his ads that B McT designed fireballs specifically for beachbreak surfing. That partly explains why they have been so ridiculously popular. How many do you reckon he must have sold by now  ? Raymond Gleave used to have his own model with McTavish but I always w...

One good one I had the misfortune to witness years ago was at Bondi of all places  . A notorious local psycho ended up having a major blue with someone he knew on the beach on a crowded summers day. They ended up rolling around on the sand grappling each other while some woman ran around yell...

Always good to post a sensationalist topic I reckon :D MP is an obvious example but then how about Keith Paul? That guy could surf 8) Locals who think its okay to rip off everyone because they surf their waves? I hate to mention Martin Bryant but the guy used to surf too  Nicks right on the...

Surfing Psychos
Surfing has always attracted more than its fair share of psychos. Some have been great surfers others have just been apprentice or fully fledges psychos. Usually the guy who turns up in the big car with the new board and can't surf isn't a psycho. He may be a dork but he is only unintentionally dang...

The number one problem with bodysurfers in the line up is that they usually haven't worked out everyone is going across the wave face rather than straight in or straight to the bottom like they are :D :P Forget about educating them about dropping in. They don't understand whats going on around them ...

I still kind of miss my old 89 Magna Wagon. It was such a tank but you could chuck all your junk in it and not give a stuff about salt water damage, sand or bashing into things. Plus it was as cheap as chips. Your right though, Johnno about those 4x4 Vans. You still see them kicking around unlike ol...

The other thing about the old alpha male personality issue is whether this just happens because one surfer is dominant because of ability or that some personalities just want to dominate anything regardless of ability. Your classic alpha is a goal oriented control freak who will try to control any s...

I'm really talking about extreme wide tailed keel fin fish here like Dick Van Stralen appears to be making. I think the general move towards wider fish style boards is a good development. I am just a bit surpised how quickly some people jump from one extreme to the other. Why a very average surfer t...
