I've been thinking a bit more about this fin blending issue. My newish board is the first non-fcs board I've had in years. The fins are glassed on and I think that the board feels livelier. The reason I ditched the FCS was that I realise I hardly ever changed fins, and that since I go through a boar...

Big Mog, if you go into the board holding area at a pro contest you'll notice that virtually ALL the boards have glass on fins. Partly it's to do with lightness, but I reckon what you're talking about - the chine, where the fin blends smoothly iinto the bottom of the board - must also have something...

That's how the mag comes out every month - a steady stream of starry-eyed workies.

Dolly magazine is run the same way. Makes sense, if you think about it; after all, what's Waves but Dolly for surfie boys?

Just read that story... the writer, Geoff Elliot, usually does telecommunictions. I tell ya, as a surf journalist elliot makes a great telco writer. How boring was that yarn?

What about an EH station wagon that looks stock but actually has a small block V8 under the hood? A real sleeper.

You can get mod kits to fit the V8s.

The board's also gonna have a whole lot less flex, and it's flex that contributes to the liveliness of a board. Like the other poster says, stringers aren't going to do anything about your pressure dings; they're dependent on the glass job and the foam density. All you're getting with extra stringer...

I said it further up the page, and I'll say it again: taking reporter gripes onto the main page is really not cool. Matt, stick to your version of reporting and take up any petty differences you have with other reporters either a) directly with the person concerned or b) in the realsurf forums. The ...

What ever happened to OZI? And does anyone remember those Hot Buttered skateys from the 80's, the ones with a pretty radical looking truck on them?

In this instance I agree with CC. It's really not cool to take reporter gripes onto the page.

If you've got an issue, mail the person direct or, at this time, refer it on to Rob or Barry.

The SurfBoardHouse out at mona vale (Harkeith St, the old Energy factory) had a bunch of second hand ones when I was there a couple of weeks ago. They're not cheap-cheap, but if you put in a couple of hundred bux you're pretty much gonna have it for the rest of your surf days - so long as you look a...

I've been interested in "alternative boards" - as Buzzy puts it - for a while. I've even ridden a few, including the miller waterskate in several sizes. Just about any board is a compromise. Some are more compromised than others, and I think that's the case with many of these hybrids and with the tr...

Tim Baker still writes for Surfing World. Probably writes half the magazine. Surfing World's good - it's about modern surfing, but doesn't assume that the buyer is an illiterate bum. Surfers Path from the UK is a good read. I also like Surfers Journal out of the US, aside from the really irrelevant ...

Thing is, Stu, you can pretend you're fishing, or trolling or whatever, but there's still only one person that ends up looking like an ignorant boor: you.

No more oxygen for you today, otaku boy.

Hey Stu, you know what I love about ya mate? The way that your posts - which I thought had been improving of late, judging by the where's larry forum last time I checked - inevitably slide back into primary school. "I know you are, you said you are, but what am I?" and so on. It's also wonderful how...

Pointer, if you lived next door to the beach, why would you go to a wavepool?

If you live in bumbskill, Ohio, the proposition is very different.
