Re: First OS surf trip.
Indonesia is actually planning on changing the Rupiah soon by dropping the zeros, they have been talking about it for years and technically it was suppose to happen at the start of this year but now i think its planned to start August 17th, although its Indo so id be surprised if it happened then bu...

@ Nick About the board test thing you have done the past two years for ASL. Most surfers never get the chance to ride that many boards in such a short period of time, I have a few boards (5,3, 5,10, 6,0, 6,3) and at times can find the transition from one to the other a bit tricky, like even going fr...

Re: What is missing from so many surf videos - 4 suggestions
Yes totally agree 1. Line up shots especially a few peeling off unridden, and love lineup pics. 2. Yes, minimal zoom, nothing worse than only seeing the surfer and not being able to see the what the wave is doing. 3. A variety of slow mo and normal speed, different angles, different distances, from ...

Re: 5 Most Consistant Waves in Australia
Lived in Vic, Tassie, Sydney, Goldie, Sunny Coast, Fraser island and spent about a year surfing/traveling the east coast. Swell wise Tassies west coast gets a crazy amount of swell, even when the normal go to swell magnets get small, you can drive south(if you have 4WD) and find waves double the siz...

@Nick People often say water temperature affects surfboard buoyancy, but there is virtually nothing i can find online related to water temp on surfboard buoyancy. Whats the general thoughts between top shapers or pro surfers is it a factor taken into account, as its a topic that must have been discu...

I cringe every time i read the story of Lance knight and Martin daly and Katiet (HT,s) do people actually really believe that Lance was the first guy to surf HT,s and by chance Martin happens to come around the corner in the same period. Hello Nias was surfed as early as 1975, 15 years earlier than ...

Reading this thread kind of makes me feel lucky about where i live, i lock my car and hide my key on my car in all the obvious places like most guys as i have a car full of tools so feel a bit paranoid, but where i live there is also plenty of locals who don't lock there cars some even leave the win...

Erosion is as natural as the ocean itself, its us humans that are fools who try to draw a line in the sand and say this is where land ends and the ocean starts, the ocean will always win. There is many things that suck about the goldie, but i reckon or from what ive seen and heard/read from old time...

I think a lot depends on size and thickness of suit as to whether you're gonna get a deal... A lot of the suits that sell out quick here in the UK are top-end 4/3s and 5/3s in medium/MT or large.... Being a UK surfer who normally wears a thick fullsuit, size large, I have to pick and choose... For ...

Then they charge us $100 plus for something that expect cost $10 to make and off course because we live in Australia we pay more than elsewhere like USA.

@Nick Regarding the ASP world championship tour If money and sponsors were not a factor, in your view how should the ASP tour events be structured. 1. A variety of the events in the worlds best waves ideally at the prime time of year for each spot. or 2. A variety of different kind of waves like we ...

From a novelty point of view of think its great and has to be done and would be great to surf once, but im sure only once. But that said i think surfing is a lot more than just about riding a wave, its about a whole lot more, most are unknowns, things that aren't controlled by man like tide, wind, s...

If the place is a protected private paradise, why wont you say where it is? Re: What board for small barrelling pointbreak?
That video has kind of filled me with regret, i didn't realise it got that good, i lived not to far from that wave for a while, and checked it from quite a distance a few times, but only surfed it once, by myself, it was actually breaking exactly like the vid but only just big enough to surf kind of...
