Re: Legropes.

Heard and witnessed a couple O&E leggies snapping at the horn lately. Solid surf, people ditching boards instead of taking the punishment, they then had the pain of the swim.

Re: FFW - Wingnut's Backyard Boards

You wouldn't 'see' it on good production boards, but the reality is they just top up any over-sands or shiny spots with a bit of UV or clear acrylic spray and give it a tune up that way. Not uncommon to see 'some' weave around plugs but if they have doubled up the cloth, as they should, then it shou...

Re: FFW - Wingnut's Backyard Boards

Hey wingy, you sure you didn't over sand that board? I don't recall seeing cracks on the underside of the rail like that and I've seen some horribly compressed tails.

Re: Anyone ridden a McTavish SUMO?

CF, sorry mate, haven't visited much for a while… Yes, still have my 7' Scorpion and same as you, it is the normal 'go to', while in the current physical state (back/hip). Would love to try the 6'8" version but then I know I can pretty much do what I need with the 7 footer. Only downside is duck-div...

Difference is, W-nut, a screen jockey probably does it in 15 minutes if they are motivated - repetition is the key to all things, and also the bane.

Looks good mate.

Well I for one am a little confused but the RECOMMENDED reading at the base of your story, "The Large Labia Project", could be interesting…

Is that a new model name?

Re: FFW - Wingnut's Backyard Boards

wingnut - the innegra on the deck probably won't help much for denting - it does a better job of resisting cracks, snaps, ding and creases - but still dents. I've got a couple that say otherwise - dent resistance that is. Not that they don't dent, just nowhere near as much. But it needs to be used ...

Re: Fins...

Don't worry Nick, neither am I, fixing that is, saw the light… though god knows I may have to go back to it. As I've said many times before, I have a problem with all the systems for fairly obvious and fundamental reasons… resin bond to the materials in use and the fact they are stuck into compressi...

Re: Fins...

even a great system like Futures has taken a long time to really find a strong foothold in Australia. It's not that great a system. You obviously haven't worked in repairs. Saw some god awful things with ALL the systems. Love your customers! Beat the opposition! Never give up! No Nick, embra...

Re: FFW - Wingnut's Backyard Boards

Had a look at your blog, W-nut, the compressions look as bad as my first ultra light PINK blank from Surfblanks for what that is worth. I'm using the same density again for the R-Tak with a very different build for that very reason. Over-cut or mismatched blanks is an issue, I have seen some 'orribl...

Re: FFW - Wingnut's Backyard Boards

Wingy, are your blanks matching your shapes? By that I mean is the deck-line as close tolerance as possible, if it isn't, that won't be helping your deck compression strength. For my first blank cut I sent the file off and they came back to me with the recommended blank(s) and rocker to best suit. T...

You can still use the filler resin, just work or sand it, more.

Still think the short version of these, say like pirate's, would be a very different kettle o' fish compared to a mid-length.
