Re: Ask Carroll
My thoughts on addiction, the supposed deug culture in sport , and the role medi plays; outing the situation of individuals in order to play itself out .... does nothing for the addict. ... Addiction is something that unless you have first hand experience you can stay out of the conversation. This ...

Re: Ask Carroll
Nick, as a major factor do litres give a close to accurate view of the board people should ride or is it just bunk from surfboard companies making it easier for surfboard salesman to push boards rather than have an idea about foils and surfboards in general. I think I might have answered this befor...

Re: Ask Carroll
I've had a bit of a realization about something that has kind of worried me to some extent for a while that I decided now has a simple motivation. That is when I look over a balcony or something high I get this overwhelming urge to either jump off or pull away. I kind of thought it was maybe some p...

Re: Board in between shorty and mal
Maybe also have a look at Grant Miller - he has a short 'mal shaped' (powerglide) and more refined styles (Waterskate etc). http://www.grantmillersurfboards.com.au/ His somewhat hyperbolic website commentary sort of makes him out to be a bit of an oddball ranting against 'the machine', but he is act...

Offer it on the (cough) seabreeze longboard forum if no one will pay up here, they only buy McT boards.

Re: Looking for ideas for my new home-shaped board
I don't really go with the 'get the biggest board you can' philosophy for teaching learners. From my own experience, and those I've tried to teach, once they've got to the point of standing up, the inability to turn rapidly becomes more important than the stability. And you don't want to be stuck w...

Since we are talking language, Nick how do you feel about Apple naming their new OS 'Mavericks' (''We wanted to emphasise our Californian roots' says apple spokesman).

Re: Ask Carroll
Likewise goes for the strain of localism in remote SA in my opinion. I have a visceral dislike of small town hostility toward "outsiders", perhaps because I've been responsible for something like it in the past myself -- to me it reeks of unhealthy fear and isn't the way to go about looking after a...

Re: CI Dagger
CI Dagger new = $810; Grant Miller 7ft Waterskate custom made = $820 (plus $50-100 transport as he is in NSW). But the Miller comes with fins which the CI might not, so its pretty much line ball. I reckon read Grant Miller's website and maybe look for a board like his Waterskate (or, of course, an a...

Re: Ask Carroll
Is it advisable to try to learn surfing in the alternate stance - can a goofy-footer turn into a natural-footer and vice-versa? A pointless follow on question: do you think there is any advantage/disadvantage in being left footed but surfing natural (or vice versa), or its pretty much totally irrel...

And that's not all. it was part 1 of a 2 part teaser campaign. The second part almost exclusively emphasised athletic performance. I don't really see a problem with associating "glamour" with sporting prowess. That's the appeal of say a Maria Sharapova and why she is tennis' most marketable female ...

I wish someone would milk this thread of the current topic and get back to something ( anything ) surf related ...
