Re: Australian Surfing Life Issue 254 / Nov - Independent Review

There was a sports/surf writer named Lewis Samuels who started up the 'power rankings' on surfline a few years ago. He was good. He didn't play the game and had some great insights. Now he's been flicked in favour of some trumped up techno coach dribble. To any Australian surf magazine editors - so...

Re: Australian Surfing Life Issue 254 / Nov - Independent Review

I got this one last week, mainly for the dvd included. i'm a big fan of aussies surfing aussie waves, dont care who they are. but it was a little disappointing, but thats mainly because i'm not a fan of tow-in surfing. yeah agree with longinus, the section on tube-riding was bogus. the article on th...

Re: Why do people dry surfboards?

an amatuer shaper once told me that fresh water is bad for boards

i find that hard to believe, but he also said leaving your board outside in the sun aint good either, which i agree with. think the foam collapses eventually

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Sunday As mentioned in the Vicco thread woke up to storm conditions. Wave buoys were topping 10 metres out in Bass Strait and 5 metres for significant waves, most likely a lot of wind swell as it was gusting to over 40 knots. Headed down to Shoreham after checking out Pt Leo which was blown to crap...

Re: ASP: the rest of the year.

You wanna be careful trying to judge off the webcast. It's hard to see turn angles and since you only get to see a little bit of the wave at a time, putting the ride into context with the wave generally is near to impossible. Also, the cameras switch angles, which has a considerable effect on how w...

Re: ASP: the rest of the year.

I know what you mean someone will do 5 backhand reo's and get a 4.00 and then reynolds gets a superlong, down-the-line right hander, does basically no real dramatic turns and scores an 8.8 methinks wave selection is featuring high on the criteria, rather than just busting as many tricks as possible ...

Stab I can understand, but why does Dane make you hate the tour?
mainly the gushing lackeys lining up to choke on his chicken

plus the IV drip story.
