yeah now that you mention it that does make sense for the east coast. we get alot of windswell in between the better sets of groundswell. to be honest, sometimes surfing 6 second period swells can be great, everyone gets a buttload of waves. actually, surfed Iluka few weeks ago and period was about ...

and we get excited over 12 second periods, yet in california 14-17 second periods are commonplace.

this conversation is a good one, and important. however I feel we're comparing apples and oranges a little. there is a very wide range of surfers, all with invidual outcomes and expectations in mind. for example, for years I simply surfed, without really consciously working on anything specific. obv...

interesting thoughts steve, i love the backstreets of cooly, great suburb.

i've read that Parko will fair better in bigger waves if he is still carrying an injury.

personally, i'd like to see him get it this year, now that bede is out of contention.

cant wait for pipe.

not the most radical example, but still, he makes it all look very easy.

couple of paddles and down he drops, seems positioning is more the key here.

who knows what woulda happened with Owen, he was surfing pretty well, i wouldnt say the best, but def in with a shot against fanning.

whaaddyas reckon about this last 2 rounds being a pretty good warmup for Pipeline?

was showing similarities, especially seeing who could handle the steep backhand drops going left
