Re: local shapers vs big names..

Base having trouble selling Simons hmmmm not sure about that. More like the phantom shapers struggling to keep up with demand. I guess when youve even got Jordy surfing em (with JS sticker) it tells you something. Fixed. So surfboard designers you reckon as opposed to shapers? As long as they are d...

Re:

When I was in a Surfculture in Bondi Junction a few months ago I asked why they dont sell Gunthers and was told that he doesn't shap for the pros so they weren't interested. Anyways, as you might have read in another thread, I just got a new custom from Gunther and am bloody stoked to put it mildly...

Stinging Jellyfish in water on Northern Beaches

apart from being pretty ok there were swarms (? flock)of jelly fish in the water. Two types, the purple ones gave a cattle prod sting and the others stung like blue bottles but 6 hours later I still have burning pains and raised skin where as a bluies sting would have all but gone by now.Not sure if ...

Re: Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover

I reckon Slater looked unreal even if he is Kelly Slater. Jordy looked great (one for the guys who arent 5'8 and 68 kilos), and Reynolds riding a board with a trailer fin was interesting. Parko "to many weights not enough speed work".

Re: Widowmaker

The HButter above I think is a Drifta. I saw a guy ripping on one at Avalon, may have been one of Fitzgeralds offspring the way he was riding. No doubt they are cool looking boards. Neil Purchase Jr shapes several boards with a similar fin set ups close to a widowmaker. Mick Mackie will make version...

Re: Is surfing in Oz(and western countries) on the decline?

Be interesting to see board sales from the more popular shapers and surfshops over the past 5 years and types of boards sold (e.g. small shorties for kids vs. Mini mals for Tom, Dick and Harriott) Any of these stats available? Speaking of ability I reckon the websites have a lot to answer for in reg...

Re: definition of snaking

At DY, i find (more often than not) that an SUP or longboarder going for a wave is actually an indicator that you'll probably get that wave.. as Munch said - they tend to pull off if it gets close to sucking up so you may as well paddle for the wave.. can always pull off easily anyhow cause they're...

Re: definition of snaking

I was wondering if you'd post Coops. There's a guy on the seabreeze forums who's started SUP riding your point. He should probably know a bit about the ocean, seeing as he's apparently been a multiple world champion goatboater (whatever that means). Your situation is exactly what scares me - they c...
