I'm 5'11" and 83kg and I ride a Yorky 6' x 19 1/2" x 2 1/2" and it goes really well. The only thing I would say about it is that its not the best board for when the waves get a bit bigger or more powerful. With all that volume its just so hard to control it in the way you would a smaller shortboard....

I use them in my Goeff Horner all-round 6'3" and so far they have been great! I use the 120 (I think?) fibreglass fins and they're awesome. Its a new board so its kinda hard to tell how much of a difference the fins make but I'm definately noticing that the board is very smooth and carries speed rea...

Localism vs. surf ettiquette scenario (what would you do?)
Well who thinks localism is more important than surf ettiquette that respects other surfers?

I think its a long personal process to find a board that works for you. Everyones surfing style is different, not to mention their body composition as well. I got about 7 boards (3 of them were customs) before I had a good idea of what I liked riding. Currently for sydney waves I ride 2 different bo...

I ride low boxy rails. They're supposed to have a good blend of bite and little bit more foam to glide through turns more. So far its turned out to be true, the board in general holds speed through turns really really well. I've tried it in big pointbreak surf to small beachy surf and so far its han...

Heres a recent one for me: Maroubra, 2ft clean shifty peaks, nothing special, pretty crowded. A guy blatantly drops in on me on a 2ft wave so I called him off. He didn't care and just kept surfing. After pulling off he deliberately looked back at me and we exchanged glances. Then he paddles back out...

A really good one is Gaia Surf Travel. They have pretty cheap rates, the guys are really nice and laid back. Best of all, the waves are absolute bullshit. Not many boats go up to the area that they surf in Sumatra because its up off the Ache coast. Don't expect a 5 star catamaran with air conditioni...

I got a haydenshapes board a year and a bit ago and I wasn't very happy with it. He didnt coordinate the wide point of the profile with the flat point of the rocker well enough. He also screwed up the dimensions but I still bought it anyway. It had a wierd feel to it that stopped the board from havi...

I think Geoff Horner with Ochre surf does some great boards. I just got my last custom from him through realsurf for $520 and its probably the best board I've ridden yet. Hes got about 25 years shaping experience. If you need guns for waves like Indo hes really good as well I've read. But yeh, my bo...

I've experienced a few but nothing too bad. One was at Bronte reef about 6 years ago or so. I was surfing with a mate and another Mal rider. It was early in the morning and about 2ft and barely doing its thing. My mate got in the way of the Mal rider on a shitty little sloppy 2ft wave and he just lo...

I don't think he had the right to surf there. If you had a skate comp and had an arrangement with the council to use a skate park exclusively for the comp then you are entitled to tell anyone that wants to use it during the comp to go away. Similarly with a surf comp, the organisers get an aggreemen...

haha screw you all, that was my attempt at crowd control at the bower its getting stupid out there now, i remember when there was a select local crew who would always rule the outside takeoff at the bower. most of them would be there every swell without fail...now its full of blow ins and learners. ...

Sumatra off Aceh may/july 2003. The second day of our boat trip fired at this awesome right hand point. 3 seperate sections to the wave, first being a barrel take-off, 2nd being a back-door barrel or nice easy barrel, third being a big boiling barrel. I easily got 2 barrels on a wave and had more ba...

Rising sea levels: Where will the new waves be?
With global warming and rising sea levels, if it doesn't stop, its gotta happen sometime. A time where our waves are no longer the same. the Bower will be gone and Winki will be as fat as the Bower, DY point will change face all-together and break on the dry ledge that we all shit our pants about, N...
