Donovan definitely rips ( see Shelter or Framelines ) and seems like a nice bloke. I met him briefly at the Avoca launch of Framelines and he was super cool. Played guitar with Matt from The Beautiful Girls which was nice. Hey KK I was at that launch too - such a great way to show the movie, with t...

Why traditional?? I'm aiming for it more than doing it (but I'm trying)! Firstly, after watching the Seedling and realising that ,yeah a log for strictly head high and under surf works for me, and watching the smoothness that those guys have. Secondly, after commiting to an old school style board, I...

Checked out the Haven and Avoca yesterday. Avoca was too messed up for anyone, but there was a pretty big crowd out at the point at Terrigal and again just up towards Terrigal from the ruins.
Looked pretty heavy (15 foot faces on some of em I reckon), and not much shape - I left it for the big boys.

Yup Australian Surfers Journal died - but some of the writers are still out there, I think Jimmy O'Keefe now writes for ASL. The Euro Mag Surfers Path is good, but Tracks is shit - the last issue I bought had about 140 pages. I counted 70 pages as full on ads and at least another 20 as sponsored wri...

I don't bother with feet anymore, I go with Dave's measurements - head high , shoulder high, etc. The following is something worth reading on the subject, crux of the article is 'measure what you ride, not what you missed' HOW TO MEASURE A WAVE Written by Ricky Grigg (ultimate big wave & surf legend...

Check out the Magoo Charity Classic on the Central Coast - named after one of the clubs oldest surfers (who's in his seventies). The guy still gets his quota of 10 waves in a 20 minute heat, competes with the A-graders (some of who are about a 3rd of his age) and can still give as good as he gets. D...
