professional nerd (ie computer programmer)
i do web apps so have to do a lot of "reasearch" browsing the surf cams and news sites ;)
luckily i dont usually have to start work until 9 so plenty of time for the early surf. and if its really good burleigh is less than 10 mins down the road :)

others who are retiring include Pat OConnell and Shane Bechen i think. Our local rag had an article saying Occ has decided to go around for one more season. Maybe if he wins Pipe he will change his mind again but i'd expect to see him there next year. http://tweednews.com.au/storydisplay.cfm?storyid...

for nice long noderides i like to hit snapper thru to rainbow when its small (knee to waist high). when they line up right you go for ages. also cabarita can be pretty fun on its day.

now Marley, theres a fun wave when its on. unfortunately it does work very often. it goes through stages where there are no banks at all just a big close out shorey. quite similar to north era beachbreak. usually better in summer cause its offshore/sideshore in a northeaster, picks up heaps of swell...

jibbon pt has a few small reef breaks but does hold the swell too well as it just breaks too wide and gets fat.
i grew up over there and have to say it was fun for us grommies cause we could walk there but if we could, we would be surfing somewhere else (like garie). not really worth the drive\walk.
