could have something to do with the longterm ocean current cycle, 25-30 years, the same cycle that some used to explain the epic early winter we had. And a possible return to the weather of the 70's. These toughs are pissing me off a little though, they look the goods on a long range forcast, but do...

for a kid of that size id reckon about a 6'2 to 6'4 but with plenty of width and thickness. i learnt on a board only 3 inches longer than my usual shortboard, but was almost an inch wider and at least half and inch thicker. That gave me all the stability i needed without lugging around a mini-mal.

I found surfing heavy reefs is great fun, but last weekend i was out at a well known WA reef with with chad jackson and brad huges, when i realised that i could of easily been as good/ comitted as them if i had given bodyboarding my best shot. I am easily one of the best ro...

life can be cruel.....
which is why i usually stay away from the crowds on the best banks. paddle out to a peak with a tenth of the crowd, even when half the amount of waves coming in, i still get a shitload more waves than if i was to hunt in the pack

I spent over 3 month in Ecuador and Peru, saved a bit of money then lived off less than $20 a day, no need to work, easily covers accomodation, food, travel by bus etc. That means eating at all the small local joints, avoiding main tourist centres etc. Just kick back, enjoy the waves and the white s...

No matter how local the yokel you should always give a guy a wave or two. I hate it when it gets like a feeding frenzy and you see guys desperately trying to nab their 1000th wave of the day while a few others sit politely waiting for just the odd missed wave. Sure you get the lions share but you d...

your all as big a posers as someone who hoots themselves after what may be for them, a fantastic wave. If you get stoked and let out a hoot, who gives a fuck, it shows they are having more fun, and are not thinking about what the other people in the lineup think about them. Fu@k.. if it feels good, ...

When i was there the power was usually ok. Swell period never really dropped below 10 seconds. Onshore winds common though.
I didnt get to the Galapogos, heard some stories about epic waves though, really consistent all year.

Jan and Feb can be a great time of year for surf. Im thinking Ecuador! In Feb an international surf comp hits Montanita, Ecuador. Consistently solid NW swells should be the go. Try Mompiche, epic 400 metre long left hander in the North of Ecuador, research is a must, its hard to get around up there,...

how about set up a 50 metre buffer zone around all beaches, meaning demolish any buildings within 50 metres of the sand. Then let nature swap the sand around from dunes, to the beach and to sandbars all it wants, beach erosion wont be an issue and it can continue to erode and deposit naturally
