40 foot swell will hit Mavericks on Thursday California time.
Santa Cruz should get to 20 feet, I'll try and get onto something a little sheltered as the weather is supposed to be a bit crazy

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I got a Buell hooded 4/3 for a little over $200 from Cleanline. How do you find it? I was in the O'Neill outlet shop in SC on Sunday as I had to get a new suit for my son as he's sprouted, and they have a few deals in there. I've only worn Rip Curl back zip suits for 20 or so years but am consideri...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Enjoying the temperature drop Groots? Perhaps not as bad in the afternoon or in town, but it's dropped a lot up at the county line where I surf most often. Not really mate! Although I'm used to it, the water temps in SC are pretty much the same as Victorian water. My 4/3 Rip Curl suit is four years...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz for a late arvo paddle with my boy Surf was shit but he had a lot of fun. Some cnut dinged my board and on the way home had to go and rescue the wifes shitheap as the battery had died. My reward was we got takeout for dinner, Pork Banh Mi if you must know, and am now necki...

Re: rotator cuff injuries
Damn Cranky sorry to hear that mate. That would have been tough Seeing the physio in a couple of weeks, healthcare where I live here is excellent so hopefully I can get back in the water soon. I've generally always had pretty good shoulders, knees etc. The orthopedic surgeon that I saw said it was m...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The homelessness is so confronting. It is, when you stop and think this is one of the wealthiest countries on the planet. Although after spending a lot of time in India for work, which included doing some volunteer work in slums with the missus, it's nowhere near as bad as the shit those poor folks...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
On the other hand, driving big distances in the USA is pretty easy if you're the driver. Plenty of rest stops, traffic moves pretty quick, no cops hiding in bushes every 10 metres or constant wildlife trying to obliterate your car running over the road. We went on a roadtrip to Oregon a few weeks ag...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Those stairs at Steamer Lane look like you could get seriously smashed trying to walk up in a large swell. Guess you could just paddle down to Cowells. I nearly got obliterated on the stairs at Jacks at high tide on a big swell earlier this year, my board took the brunt of it. Steamer Lane on a big...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I'm not a fan of them either but in frigid water they really become essential to help ward off the baby cow cramps. And as Trev says they save on wax and improve your grip on the board. Most surfers in Santa Cruz wear them because along with the cold you often walk out across rocks and there is alwa...

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Crunched the bejeezus out of my longboard at Santa Cruz this week. Surf has been a decent size (bit sloppy, quite Victorian conditions actually) but it has made getting out of the waves at high-tide and back up the cliffs a fcuken pain. Ended up bashing up the tail, nose and a rail when a freak wave...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Capitola down at Santa Cruz with my boy All went well till a couple of guys got into an argument in the water. One guy was annoyed an older man who was teaching his grand-daughter to surf right near the take-off zone, the angry guy had a point, it wasn't the best place to do this but he started laun...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Rented a couple of boards at Waikiki and my boy and I went for a surf yesterday. Place was packed with tourists and people learning to surf but it still was a lot of fun.
Scenery wasn't half bad either

No. This place needs to be ruled by a tyrant that can moderate softly, but carry a big fcuken stick

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The new Gerry Lopez foam board for the young fella certainly did the trick. Ended up paddling into eight waves all on his own this morning. He was delighted that his wave count was higher than mine! As we made our trip home I came across an eerie RealSurf doppelganger. Details are in the Walk this E...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Got the Grootlets out on some rented soft-top longboards down at Santa Cruz. They had a blast, especially the boy who told me to stop pushing him onto waves after a few as he wanted to paddle onto them himself. Little fcuker did it well and was up on his feet straight away being cheered on by the lo...
