Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

I had one of the first tri zaps (a 5'11) around 1983. I loved it and had no problems riding it at all, but riding a 6' single wide tail McCoy for a year in Bali before that probably helped.

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

I've just got rid of those annoying astron zots. Basically I spent about one third of my surf time over the last 2 years fcuking around with them when I could have been on my nuggets or a lot of other boards that click within a few sessions.

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

Stu Nettle: I had ten surfs on a Lazor Zap. The dimensions were 6'0" x 20'3/4" x 3'. It had a touch too much foam for my 75kg frame and a 5'10" would've been better suited. The waves I rode it in were between two and four feet. In surf this size the first turn on a regular shortboard is nearly alway...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

Just for the record. Found this on some obscure forum: Displacement Hulls They're one of a variety of convex bottom designs, effective when used in combination with other elements of design. Here's a portion of something I wrote a few years ago that talks about the rounded convex bottoms you find on...

I had a 6'8 Al Byrne/Hot Stuff 6 chanel in about 1984. Great board that went really well in Indo.

Re: Midlengths

Nice looking board jet, I'd love to put it through its paces. A new season on the bukit starts for me soon, its gonna be a long one as usual and the best year ever I reckon. First up it will be the last try for the zots. This time with Winged keels or 6.5" centres and medium fronts. I think the keel...

Re: mctavish boards

Same as GSTQ, pretty sure it isn't a Tuflite. They always have the logo and that's a wood stringer, the pretend stringers are just paint lines

I've ridden them a lot, Carvers are great boards IMHO, a 7'7 or 7'11 would suit you well MM

Re: skateboarding ...

I think the limited supply of waves may be the root cause of a lot of the animosity/localism in surfing.

Localism doesn't really occur in all the bike based sports I've done, front up to somewhere new and you'll usually be welcomed.

Or join a band.
