Re: Enormous leaps forward or back ...
WAAY forwards: the fin system, makes travel and trying different setups, foils, combo's etc. a joy rather than a pain. I read in MP's book about how they used to saw the fin off and re-foil it or re-position it and then glass it on again, only to do it again the next day! that dedication to progress ...

Re: alternative or crazy
Heres some pics of the Bing Spork. Dims are 6'3"x19"x2 1/2". DSC_0036w.jpg DSC_0035w.jpg DSC_0033w.jpg I saw Harley ripping the bag out of some waves on the Tollhurst and had a yarn with him about it. Its basically a pure comp board, double barrel comcaves through the rear and a fair whack of tail l...

Re: alternative or crazy
The chine is fine and you probably won't even notice it. The board will feel doughy and slow in small waves but once it gets up on the plane with the chine providing a nice clean release edge it will really take off.

Re: alternative or crazy
I had it slightly modified from std by having the rail chines softened and the concave modernised. Originally they had a 'V' concave where the concave was close to the center stringer and gradually faded out towards the rails. My board has the concave more towards the rail and fading away towards th...

Re: alternative or crazy
37yrs we've been together Prids, so she knows how it works and i'm pretty sure she has vetted just about every surfer I know to find out what I might like. I don't really have a standard board that i ride, the local conditions are very changeable and I tend to swap between the 5'11 "Gravy' and the 6...

Re: alternative or crazy
The only reason I found that link was because my wife has bought me a new board for my b'day and i'm not sure what it is. As met Matt Calvani in the Maldives a few years ago and we've kept in touch, I was thinking maybe she's got me a Bing. Then i checked their website and saw those things........Da...

Re: " but I still love the old world"....Where to from here?
This thread is probably one the best things I have read on the net. It runs the full gammut of emotion and it made me text both my girls and tell them I love them (hows that for connected/disconnected). Nick, I am devastated for you mate. We don't know each other, but my youngest went down that very...

Re: H3 Nexus...anyone tried 'em?
I rekon they are OK for surfers who use the rail more to turn, in my experience they worked pretty good in the biscuit,(wide tail, not much rocker). I lent mine (smalls) to a mate who hated em in his more standard board, but then he like to blow the fins all the time and defo surfs more vertical tha...
