I went as far as Davenport once but only to check it out - and even a beach called Bonny Doon!
Cheers mate, I might mosey my way up there on the weekend. There are so many crowds at SC, its taking a bit of getting used to

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Groots you need to find new spots. Didn't you used to surf some spot in vicco with some name like Easy Bay or Beginner's Beach or something? And now you're surfing Pleasure Point. Isn't there a Death Slab or Widowmaker Cove nearby? Big Left at Flinders? I loved that wave. Paddle out was a PITA bein...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Pleasure Point Santa Cruz a couple of days ago on Thanksgiving morning 1.5 times overhead and 2 times on the bombs. Felt good to be out in some bigger stuff for a change. Hard fcuken work but I got a couple. Definitely doesn't have the power of Victorian waves west of the cape at that size though. W...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I reckon most young physically able teenagers could learn to surf if they really wanted to and could devote enough time to it. The thing is, the reality of learning to surf and surfing doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. It’s physically exhausting, often cold and lonely and can be scary at times. So...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The Point at Santa Cruz Chatted with a nice fella that was riding a "freeway board". It's a bit of thing down here given the amount of freeways, apparently one can find a surfboard with some regularity on the side of the road. He was pretty happy with it, only cost about $120 in fiberglass repairs a...

Santa Cruz tipped to hit 9 - 10 foot with a big NW swell on the weekend. Yee-haw!

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Pleasure Point is to Steamer Lane as Winki is to Bells One is more famous, the other just seems to work better in most conditions. Lots of crowds though and almost everyone was on a longboard, but I managed to snag a couple on a second hand 6'8" thruster I bought. Wave has a great shape, will be nic...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
There was a mal comp on when we were there the first time. It looks like a fun wave though. I guess if it was big you could catch waves down to Cowells and go in there pretty easily. Pleasure Point where I surfed is a few miles south. Huge surf area that can handle the crowds. A lot of the surf com...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Steamer Lane at Santa Cruz yesterday. Conditions were really small but it was my first paddle in months thanks to Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria so it was nice to be in the water. Cool surf break, the take-off next to the rock is weird but it works, and fcuk me there is so muck kelp in the water. ...

Re: 2020
Surfed my backside off over Autumn and Winter, got my paddle fitness better than it has been in years and had some amazing surfs
Then Stage 4 kicked in for Victoria and my wetsuit has been dry ever since

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I bought a nice secondhand 6'6" at the Midtown Surf Shop in Santa Cruz today. Generously volumed for my solid frame. Round tail so it'll suit nice drawn out turns - never been one for the snappy pro-surfer shit as I find it exhausting and, if I'm being really honest, I suck at it! Nice fella I bough...

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Big Left at Flinders, second day in a row. Perfect conditions, blue sky, sunshine and 3 metre on the face swell trains. Why would I ever go back to travelling an hour and 10 minutes to and from work 5 days a week and miss out on this? I'm more productive in this climate than I ever was in the office...
