Some wicked feedback, cheers. It sounds like alot of you think surftech are very good for smaller waves. The question I've got is just how big is going to be too big for this board? Waist height? Shoulder height? Head height? 3ft? 4ft? Should I just get a similar shape like in glass? That could be ...

I live down south about as close as you can get to RNP beaches but that is still a 15min drive about 15 mins from Cronulla too. Lived up at FF and used to surf DY and Longy a bit, when I wasn't training for another sport. I would cycle past them everyday. I grew up in Miranda but spent a few stints...

That happens to me on any board supplied with plastic M5 or G5s, typically it is not enough fin and too much flex in my case. It is always fixed by a fibreglass fin same size or bigger. Sounds like the board wanted to drift rather than turn. Sometimes you can get away with it but it has to be a more...

^^^exactly ! In a quad set up the front fins and back fins are positioned more forward. So if you go for a 5 plug setup with the option to change between a quad and thruster, well ya gonna have a board that goes well as a thruster but pretty shitty as a quad or vice versa, so why bother ?? . Agreed...

I have a set of FG-7s and PG-7s. The differences are there, the FG-7s are light epoxy and flex a bit but as a result the board loses a bit of drive but not that much but they work really well in my newly acquired quad and that is probably where they'll stay. The PG-7s don't seem to flex and give the...

...I do any of my standard thruster models with a quad set-up. I Just bring the tail block out slightly to accomodate the extra fin area. Double con thru tail with rear fins 2" from rail. www.rmshapes.com Have you thought about putting FCS plugs in for both thruster and quad, so it could be surfed ...

... So setting up a thruster as a Quad will more times than not = a dog Quad. ... So it might work with some? Any examples that might work rather than go into details? I'd say this is THE fad, converting your boards into something else. Can a thruster be converted to a single fin of twinny and have...

Seen a few over the years but the scariest time was out at Voodoo in nice 5' offhsore waves. Suddenly I see some splashing just beyond the approaching sets and then 5 or 6 bronze fins swimming about erratically. There was probably about a 9 or 10 of us out. We all took off on the first wave of the s...

... Slowman, another tough question. If Quads are unecessary, what is necessary in surfing (besides waves)? The right attitude and by that I mean an inner sense of belonging with the environment and a vote for Kevin Rudd at this next election, as the evil John Howard has plans to ban surfing and se...

Quad convertables

With the release of the FCS's TC aqualine tri-quad fin set it looks like there is an intention to have boards that can be ridden as either a quad or thruster set up. From a little research on the net, I see Reidel and a few others are saying normal thruster shapes work well as quads too and the inno...

I've got two Webber's both afterburners I left one overseas so I can avoid being stung with excess baggage charges and the general hassle of having to travel with a board. They're both tuflite pop-outs in this situation that was perfect - I know they are the same. I just haven't bothered with custom...

Just ask any locals and tell them you are looking for "Jaws" they will give you directions. You will find them very friendly and they laugh quite a lot.
