Effect on surfing of the global financial crisis
Here we go - there is a silver lining - from the Age "...Coastal "weekenders" are flooding the market: 73 properties are listed for sale in Lorne compared with 19 this time last year, and 104 in Torquay compared with 34 a year ago." I'm guessing this means fewer expensive 4WDs in the carparks and fe...

the right blank for the board + s glass + uv resin will give you a very durable board. need to get board made by shaper who knows their materials. off the rack boards wont cut it. go custom if you want better strength. good info how important materials are @ http://www.surfblanksaustralia.com/index...

People losing their jobs and having to worry about how they'll support their families isn't good. But in some ways the popping of a couple of bubbles may make things better for the battlers on real surf. The beach house boom which pumps legions of kooks into coastal towns will come to a halt as seco...

All this advice is good, however before you start you need to be sure that the area you will be surfing in isn’t oversurfed. Go down to your local break on a weekend when conditions are good and count how many good waves go unridden in an hour. If you see less than 10, then your area is oversurfed a...

This atheists vs the religious thing has been played out on the net a million times and we all know what the result will be. But the more interesting question is why does Coolone feel compelled to tell everyone about his imaginary friend and all the stuff a bunch guys say another bunch of guys wrote...

I've surfed Woolamai a lot over the years and I'd have to say it is more consistantly good or very good than any beachie I know. It doesn't really barrel that much but the waves are really long and there are a lot of banks. You often get ten very good peaks going left and right along a kilometre str...

Uh oh. Severe crease ... hard to set the edge off the bottom - the rail just wanted to bounce around rather than bury and slice. Thinner rails would make a difference. The crease and performance issues would be a combination of shape and construction. Slightly fatter rails would make the board stif...

Re: Quads
I reckon you are going to have trouble getting rear fins small enough for that size board. You could look at longboard side bites but they are single foiled and you might find the board a bit snappy.g_u_m_b_y wrote: not paying...

Yeah you're right - that theory doesn't really stand up. There is no upside, the 'somewhere' thing is another example of how the image of surfing ripquikbong are selling is becoming divorced from the experience of most surfers.Nick Carroll wrote: But the somewhere thing...there's not a single upside.

It's easy to sh*tcan Ripcurl for this "somewhere" nonsense, we are all assuming that some genius in Ripcurl's marketing dept has dreamed this up and an edict has come down about reinforcing the "somewhere" brand. But what if and I might be drawing a long bow here - Ripcurl are doing this for securit...
