Re: Where did you surf today ?
Well this goose who did a reo/cutback or something on top of me yesterday could have fractured my skull when his board hit me in the head. Then he landed on top of me #*! This has seriously dampened my enthusiasm for having a crack again today since the conditions are worse and just as crowded. I bl...

Re: Ask Carroll
It has many merits. It's pink and red and looks like a giant donger.
He really rooted up a few of those waves though. I was expecting more back door action.

Best ever freebie mag one was the comp in Mexico. Bloody brilliant waves and surfing. Used to have a VHS of the Grajagan Comp that Luke Egan won. That was good. I like the videos on coastal watch as a rule.

Re: Ask Carroll
Well I for one will be willing to volunteer for the role of unco super average old kook if it involves a board testing trip to Telos
I am prepared to attempt late take offs with little chance of making it other than the magic boards provided by the shapers.

Re: Ask Carroll
Agreed re: how good was his backhand attack. I found watching that old bloke they had on there :) quite useful. You could go okay, well I can do that but probably not that one. Wouldn't probably make them all but you could see the board in action on a few. Its funny with all the progress in surfing ...

Nothing like a glut of thrash metal with fast cropping of lots of unmade airs on 2 ft closeouts to get you reaching for the next button.

Re: Drop in on Tony Abbott
The goofy footer on the left in the bottom picture is the NSW Treasurer isn't it? As far as conservatives and religion goes. They appear to think its religions place to supply welfare. Tough if your not religious. They appear not to have the same divisions when it comes to interfering in legal matte...

Re: Drop in on Tony Abbott
Fong appears to aspire to be aspirational. If you were very cynical you would think there is a conspiracy to sack as many people as possible so they can be rehired under desperate circumstances at a much lower rate. Last chance to climb on the wealth wagon as the middle class disappears and the poor...

We're not the source of the cash. It's the kids - Well, kind of…...until they're in their mid twenties, they get the cash from grumpy old know-it-alls and pass it on. Easy to play to stereotypes. Yeah there's a lot of kids who wouldn't enjoy a broader pallet but there's plenty who do I recko...

It would be choice to do a classic seventies style fade with soul arch redirecting the PM onto surge at the Bower.

Re: Ask Carroll
I really reckon the video testing is heaps good. A picture is worth a thousand words so whats a video worth information wise?
You know its one thing to say performs well but its different to watch the action.
My son went "see the barrels that old guy was getting on that board."

I look for something like a high rise at Rainbow with Snapper going off at about 5 to 6 feet and no one out

Re: Surf Cowards
There is a classic historical case between two well known and/or notorious Tweed surfers that no ones supposed to talk about for legal reasons. One used to ride some very bizarre self shaped numbers that looked like diamonds in plan shape....but not in a good way. The other was a shaper :-D-: Anyone...

Re: What is missing from so many surf videos - 4 suggestions
I really prefer surf movies with a lot of texture shots. In fact Im pretty happy if the whole thing works as one long texture shot really.
Helps if the surfings good too. Seagulls, sand, crabs, waves, rain and sunshine, bring it on.

Re: Drop in on Tony Abbott
Classic photo. A bit like seeing a good surf shot and imagining yourself there. Love the look on the guys face. One thing I couldn't work out when I saw Abbott having lunch at Nth Steine was why there was a soft board next door at dripping wet with bright red Tony Abbotts all over the bottom. That's...

Re: What is missing from so many surf videos - 4 suggestions
Re: movies in general. Some waves handle a close shot better than others. Snapper for example. Where as somewhere like Kirra needs a longer shot to do it justice.
Rotten close outs look better in close up.
