It is a big fun part of the world. If you are going surfing then the outer islands are all good at the right times: Bahamas to Barbados all have surf. If you are into music/nightlife then most islands have something to offer: Reggae in Jamaica, Calypso in Trinidad, Son in Cuba, Merengue in Dominican...

I am actually thinking of bottling my baby gravy & marketing it as Smnmntl's Selfless Fathering Fluid, kind of along the lines of Paul Newman's Tangy Salad Dressing (similar appearance, taste & mouth feel) so that those ladies who do wish to reproduce can purchase their jizz from a reputable geneti...

ATMs are the go.

But bring a little local currency with you, just to be safe. And if you have some U$ with you, that can cover the arrival and departure taxes at a currently good A$:U$ exchange rate.

Doesn't hold 6ft plus - you'll need to move on. A fun wave when its smaller, choice of left or right and no coral to worry about. As Natho said, you need to hit it in the mornings before the wind gets up, and crowds can sometimes be a worry. There are plenty of breaks up and down from Canggu so my a...

I've tried lots of booties. My current faves for Bali are O'Neill Superfreaks http://www.oneill.com/mens-products.php?sport=surf&categoryID=1&typeID=7&seriesID=154&id=53 of which I'm on my third set and I think I'll stick with them into the future - they work really well. But be sure to buy them TIG...

My two cents worth: 1. the force required is the square of your velocity, so if you're going twice as fast the force required is 4 times. You *really* have to work a turn at high speed. My feeling is you probably just aren't pushing hard enough, but also ... 2. that same force transmits via the fins...

I bought a RipCurl steamer years ago and after about 4 months the rubber gave way at the base of the zipper. RipCurl first repaired it, then when it tore again gave me a new wetsuit (next year's model) and I was impressed. That wetsuit lasted two years and then the seams started to fall apart - Rip...

Starting from Ohio, why not take a spin through Pittsburgh, down to Washington D.C. (plenty of Maryland Crab Houses there, plus beer) then up via Philadelphia to New York. Or you could go Chicago and Detroit (be careful), thence to Buffalo (eat Wings, see Niagara Falls), Rochester and to New York. Y...

The safest way to go bigger is to do it at high tide.

Head out a bit before high, check it out and take a few lesser waves, then go for some of the sets, and stay out there as the tide drops.

When you get worked over, just go back out and do it again. Its only water.

O&E double coffin, fits three sans fins with clothes, wetties, legropes, fins, first aid in the end. I have the same - it takes 3 boards easily. Normally I travel with just 2 boards each in their own day bag and there is still a lot of room, so I make sure to put extra stuff in to act as padding. B...
