dae are you sure you're not the one with the broken leg  Sad Kookiness Phases will be familiar to any surfer with more than about five minutes' experience. What's horrifying is that they continue to occur NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU GET and NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU SURF. 'Course it's all a matter of d...

See dammit, here's the terrible truth....though I may be a cripple today, I won't be tomorrow...

And AB, well he might make a channelly paddleboard, but there's no WAY IN HELL he'd make a stand-up paddleboard. I think he's of the school of "OK in Hawaii, f**ken ridiculous on the Goldie".

The whole standup paddle thing originated in Waikiki quite a few years back, as a way for the beachboy crew to cruise around out the back at Canoes etc and talk their rich white chick learn-to-surfers through the process of catching waves. Kind of a combo of board and outrigger. You scarcely blame t...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JubyTGgcImY another one that I think I should tag with some of my assumptions (given how bad my memory is  ), it was around the time that scores were accumulated by doing as many cutbacks, reos, ... as possible  and I also think it was the last comp mp su...

54 Years old? Now im really embarassed and ashamed. There is no way the guy that was pointed out to me was that old. I usually try and get all the facts before offering opinions, I dont know what happened here. It makes it worse that I went on with all this tripe on the internet where it reaches so...

Back in the 1980s, a woman named Cougar Wicc-Otter surfaced as a board designer. Cougar was a wiccan feminist, with little or no surfing experience, who had the theory that women couldn't surf very well because they were being forced to use male-designed equipment. So she launched a women's only sur...

Not long ago a person in the surf pointed out this guy that was taking off way on the shoulder. I had seen this guy a number of times before and he is a bit of a shoulder sitting drop in merchant (been a victim of this first hand a copule of times). He was also surfing fairly average. This person a...

Like the mag or not, I reckon it lit a match under the complacent clackers of the existing publishers. I agree. Stab's pretty try-hard a lot of the time, the same way a lot of post-metrosexual young Sydney male culture seems to be - you know, wannabes in the Big City, very aware of their Exteriors....

Some people like the flip around style and gimmicky whatevers, and the love affair with Koby and also Shane Dorian, but I prefer the more regimented (read normal) approach that something like ASL gives. And you can't beat the letters to the editor section of ASL... so many words, so few brain cells...

BAH!!! All surfing mags suck!! They're for kids. Try reading some decent fictional literature.... something that actually takes talent and imagination to write. Something that's well edited. Something that's written by an Author, not a two-bit try-hard who has no education in etymology or command o...

Try north Bilgola headland on a super high tide, there's a little undefined path up a ridge then a few platforms, each above another. Go the one you dare.
